Murtasim has only made efforts to make meerab accept their relationship. Also she did start listening to him. Remember the dinning table scene where she kept quit when murtu asked her to be. She is not used to the feudal system and don't know anything about how he is as a feudal lord. For someone like meerab the entire feudal system itself is regressive and it's true. The guy went out with guns to take revenge for her kidnapping and made it all about himself and his izzat. He even said who is she to forgive anyone for her own kidnapping. She can only believe what she sees, right? She has only seen murtu being an aggressive landlord who accepted a maid as a slave as compensation and is now getting her married to one of his banda without asking the maid. Meerab don't know murtu enough to trust his decisions. He also made a fuzz about meerab being a woman and coming in front of the panchayat and insulting him. For him she is nothing more than his wife and as his wife she is supposed to respect him and everything around him. For him she is 'murtasim khan ki biwi' more than meerab. She is a person of her own and she has the right to stand up for what she beliefs is right and there was nothing wrong with her beliefs. On one hand he says she is his neerav and she can do whatever she wants and can achieves whatever she wants but then looses his cool when she does what she wants and what she belives in🤪. Dude need to make up his mind.
All that feudalism, izzat talks and a panchayat making decisions for a woman( even if it ended up in her favour) are regressive and outdated. Murtasim sure might be protecting his gao but he in no way is empowering them. He might care for them but he also makes sure they stay under him. For him and his family to be the owner of that land it is necessary for him to make those people always stay under him and never let them be empowered.
Murtasim might be a good guy but not all his decisions are good. Meerab might be immature and impulsive but her thoughts and believes make more sense than any other character in the show. Every single character except her have a very regressive mindset including her lawyer foster father. Some random guy comes and says she loved him and he went out to question her the next moment. He don't even trust his daughter enough to have a little faith in her. Nowadays Anwar started looking better than
If she would have start listening to him then she would have stayed in car instead of running behind those goats in the fields of Malik's.
If she does not know anything, then first she needs to know and understand then she should rise her voice against wrong. Ghalat chezz main awaaz uthana ghalat nhi. But Meerub toh har chezz main hi taang udati hai without knowing anything. If she does not know anything then why she removed bullets from that gun.
She was right in Maid Naila's matter tho. Her ideology is brighter and wider. She is confident and strong headed but she is a bit dumb and too impulsive.
Now coming towards murtasim, ofcourse this feudal system is not an ideal one. Hopefully they will address this in this drama. But at least murtasim is not a cruel person, who killed malik's son, who punished their maid naila. Yes he wants to rule on these people but he does care for them. Murtasim is not the one who has made this feudal system. At least he is trying to be a fair leader of that village. Let's take the example of any office. If the boss of that office will give equal authority to every employer toh no one will respect that boss, har koi khud ko hi boss samhy ga. So, if murtu will empower the villagers then they will go against him, so he or any other feudal lord will definitely not do that. In office work scenario merit and experience matters so, it's a fair deal. But in feudal system it's all about specific families getting ghaddis and all privileges so definitely this feudal system is not appreciable.
Yes, murtasim has flaws as well, unfortunately he is part of this regressive feudal system.
But Murtasim the husband and murtasim the Khan are different one. Murtasim the khan considers meerab as his wife, his izzat. But murtu the husband considers meerab as meerab only or most probably murtasim ki meerub. Husband murtu was the one who accepted meerab's contract, who never asked her to change, who didn't complain about that fish, she deliberately made for him, who never asked her to cover her head with duppata like her mother and sister do, never asked her to do his personal stuff or to take care of him and his family, she never demanded anything.
