Maybe I took it personally as I am attached to Viaan's character but I found it difficult to see him lose his senses in front of his staff. Dignity matters to me. Putting the ONS aside, I have never seen Viaan behave inappropriately. All of a sudden, Ehsan is indicating Viaan's inclinations towards alcohol. Jeetu bhai is bringing a glass for Viaan. Cherry on the cake - Ehsan drugs Viaan. This is not the show which I signed up for or have been watching. Is this an indication of the direction they are taking? Are we to expect more negativity instead of the story being the main driver? It was shocking to see Ehsan turn so ugly. I could accept him being a grey character but this act was downright manipulative and malicious. Viaan considers this man as his best friend and family.

I can't deny that I am disappointed.

shalzie -- when it comes to alchohol, there are different atttitudes even within this show.

so jeetu bhai offering viaan a drink was not filled with malice. instead, he was giving as a host and almost like a fatherly + coworker vibe. jeetu bhai does not have a problem with drinking or people who drink. so there isn't a kind of derision to it. they are at his wedding anniversary party and he is offering a drink to his boss and not just any drink but single malt -- so that is viaan's preferred drink and jeetu bhai knew it. so there is a level of comfort there. however, viaan wasn't in the mood per se to drink and mostly looking at how fast he can exit after doing a bit of mixing around.

katha is a teetotaler but she doesn't necessarily have an ick attitude towards drinkers or drinking. it is just her choice not to drink.

now, ehsaan drinks but wants to pretend that he is high and mighty. so he acts like he doesn't drink or is above it all. here his non-drinking is about showing folks how righteous he is. in the same vein, he puts down viaan because he can drink like a tanker on occasion. there is derision. he assumes that because katha is a teetotaler, she has disgust towards those who drink and he wanted to put viaan down in her eyes. so he wasn't teasing or ribbing but there was malice involved. even if viaan didn't recognize it, he could sense the malic and thats why viaan got upset and moved away.

but then ehsaan had to prove his point about viaan being a drunkard -- so he spikes the juice and forces viaan to drink at several points. will have to agree with others here (paula, angel) that there are 'friends' like this in real life. have heard stories and it always makes your head spin. they are not good friends but rather out to destroy your life out of jealousy. so in that way, his turn is not unexpected if we take a step back and look at it. still, it is always hard to believe when those next to you stab you.

Since some discussions are happening here, felt like sharing few other perspectives. Indian TV family audience is diverse with varying tastes, interests, needs & it will remain for long time. Blaming TV audience primarily is an escapism route mostly followed by channels/producers/writers etc. rather than introspecting internally be it their content, concepts, characters, story plots, casting, time slots or business & marketing models. (disclaimer - I'm not from media industry)

Feel some of us still have decade and half back myths about hindi television viewership in urban India..where as in current times many significant changes have occurred that too at rapid pace.

If its nani's/dadi's or so called elderly people of a family or housewives (classified as TRP aunties) that control TV remote in majority of urban Indian households during evening prime time, then Star Sports Hindi wouldn't have become top hindi channel during cricket series as per BARC charts.😃

Pre covid times leaving aside sports, if we see reality as per BARC urban charts for hindi GECs there weren't many saas bahu dramas in top 20 list.. and shows like Ishq Subanallah, Rising Star, Shakti, Kulfi Kumar Bajewala, Ishq mein Marjawan, Nimki Mukhiya, Bepannaah etc. wouldn't even get an entry into this list, if its so called 'aunties' of urban India that predominantly decide prime time TV viewership. 😳

Despite most Indian household's obsession towards movies and sports like cricket that can influence general viewership, its how a fiction TV serial is packaged every week, how its promoted, whom its targeted, at what time slot it airs and on which channel? along with competition that will have major impact on how much impressions or gross viewership it can collect for that given week where ad revenues also get impacted. One can't compare a 7.30pm show with 10.30pm and that with 9pm. Each time slot and show could attract different family members from same family, similarly week days & weekends have different choices & attractions.😛 But this core research is going for toss when launching or sustaining a new serial, e.g. colorstv channel.

If we observe closely, for years together Sony TV week day fiction serials don't appear in BARC top 20 urban TRP charts. This is something as a channel they need to seriously work to analyse & fix with help of third party market researchers, distribution networks, along with BARC, plus their own programming & marketing teams.

We have separate topic on TRPs in this forum, so regarding loop holes in TRP sampling sizes, BARC process & systems shall take up more there.

I feel Ehsaan thinks Viaan likes katha and considers viaan his competitor. He is worried about it but not expressing it.

Alcohol actually is common in corporate world (most of the companies in Mumbai i dont to generalize but based on my exp)

And its the other way around ,ppl are judged for not consuming it 😂

Yes screen space is given to Eshan than the leads that is the main issue with KA it is going to pull the drama down

If Kaviaan story not picking up from now onwards still Eshaan is given too much screen place with very down grade mentality , the series is doomed

It is not a new story ... It was played as a blockbuster with “ such beautiful , romantic leads “ The essence of story was what kind of a “ romantic couple “ they were

If the same fire not there on top of it too much of Eshan's erotic , negative on the screen .. people can loose interest . I will definitely loose interest

Alcoholic drinks are common in parties when some one don’t drink they are really judged totally other way around

Pathetic writing for Eshan, imagine this kind of child hood friend who can stab from behind and next day can appear in front like nothing has happened

It was not this bad in OG . Kareen cheats with the chits where there names were written who is other person’s gift buddy ... Kareem( Eshan) adjust in such a way he will be buying gift for FL .they two will dance together ... A jealous ML will look on with a burning heart so do Rewa . FL will be very uncomfortable she will be looking at ML ! Katha was very comfy with Eshsn’s touches 🤣🤣

I just saw the full episode and I have to say that Katha did not look uncomfortable at all when she was dancing with Ehsan. Idk why she is doing this to herself ughhh. Also agree with you all that love story track needs to start asap because it's going to get boring soon if they're not gonna introduce incidents that will bring KaViaan closer.

That is why I try Sony shows ... Sony had a nice finite serial “ Dhadkhan”about lady doctor ( surgeon)
