I know they are so not for ordinary people. I really wanted to go on royal train tour but hubby says the real beauty of india are visible by road trip. One resort was $ 2.5 k.

Yes the palace on wheels trip is expensive and also an experience. But you might get more out of flying + road trip. Plus kooschan always is how many trips u can take all the way there. So that’s always a factor.

My friend did this bike ride from North to South... Pit stop as an when the bike needs help... Enjoy local food.. Local basic stay.... He is having a gala time!!!!

hmm. I will give you an example. Switzerland (and most of Europe) has an extensive train system. And super efficient. Always on time etc. A Swiss rail pass even includes cruises. Panoramic trains. Etc…. I would never recommend roads there unless one had 4 weeks to burn but even then. Self driving is tiring as well.

On the other hand if you go to Banff in Canada. It will be road and is 7 contiguous national parks.

I have been to both …So I think it’s a “it depends” type decision.

Almost booked that trip in 2016 and demonetization changed the plan. We don't visit motherland much and it's hard to deal with dates conflict. And with our luck, nothing goes according to plan.
