Hi! Everyone's probably tired of me coming here with questions , but there's something I've been wondering:
Let's say we write something based off a small incident in a book. I'm worried that for people who haven't read the book, the fanfic will make zero sense because there will no context for it. This is especially true for character-based fanfics (e.g: I could write something based on a conversation between Byomkesh and Ajit). Any tips on how to navigate this?
Tagging the organizers, but the post is for everyone!
Idk but just write it and give it a shot.. find some creative way to include the reference maybe.. like a newspaper article or something đđŒ

If you think there's a chance that people won't get your story unless they have prior knowledge about that incident/convo, then it's better to have it referenced somehow. You want all of your readers to have an equal footing, after all
As a writer, you have a lot of tools, use them
Also, we don't mind the queries at all! Whatever doubts you have, ask away!

You'll see it when my poem transforms from its current 200+ mess to a proper 100 word thing đȘ
