In many ways, phuphos entry and the scenes between the sisters and phupho is telling us that while the sisters are so disappointed that phupo didn’t do her bit to stop Samiya’s wedding, and in some ways we as audience was also hoping for that, actually what phupo has done is tell us all that in the end, it’s not about marrying the right or wrong guy according to everyone around, it’s about having agency, having the right to make the choice. In some way, I feel that this will also be the storyline for Alia’s love story. Where in paper Sheriyaar’s character is the ultimate guy but her agency is respected with Bilaal’s character.

As you can see I am totally loving this show

I also liked what phupho said. Samiya made her decision and whether it's good or bad she will have to face it on her own and if she needs her family then they are there to support her.

I guess Aliya will consider sheriyar's character because of his money and status as she keeps saying if she had enough money she would solve all of her father's problems. But even though she fights with Salman she is very much comfortable with him. Both physically and mentally. She kind of knows he will be there for her when she needs him. The way she don't even pretend she don't want his help when her car brakes down says it. She behaves as if it's his job to fix her car and he also thinks it's his job. 😆 They are more like frenemies than enemies.

I also like how the show don't make a big deal out of male-female interactions. Ali and Tanya are best friends and both their families don't make a big deal out of it.

I am really enjoying these episodes where everyone in getting established. The melancholy in the madness of the story just touches a chord somewhere.
I know that the story of the help may be cliched, but there is something so raw and ragged about it. She wants a better life for her daughter, but so does her daughter. In the scene where she fights and takes her phone away, somewhere I was feeling so sad.

Anyways have loads to write but will wait for more comments

Also someone pls explain yeh Ali hai Kaun?? Mai thodi si confused hun

Ali is Tanya's bestfriend. Seems like the family knows h very well.

Actually that's true.

I love every single female of this show. Even Saif ul rehman's girlfriend.

That girl is also doing so good.

The male leads in this show have soft corner for females.

Salman for Aliya

Ali for Taniya

Samiya's real one (if he is the one for samiya) would enter in the next episode.

I really don't want saif ul rehman for samiya.

The interview done by Rabia (i think that's the name)

Then Adnan samad is also the part of the show.

She wants a man submissive of her.

That's what I understand.

I think he is her junior or something in office also.

She already hates his mother, there must be a back story for same.

I missed Salman's mother in the episode.

The episodes are very slow. They should pace a bit.

And what's with the property matter can someone explain it to me please.

Actually it’s not soft corner, it’s more like treating them as equals. We are so conditioned by these shows where the men are always placed in a step above that we have forgotten how everyday behavior from men and guys who are just friends treat women, in fact your point of soft corner made me think of it. In fact everytime we have a guy who treats a woman as an equal we think it’s soft corner, but maybe we should look at it as normal.

I have no clue about the property. I am not understanding if the father owes so much on the property what is the woman thinking when she insists on her son marrying Samiya. Yeh baat palle hi nahi padh rahi.

oh yes, frenemies totally. But underlying that frenemy relationship is an equation of equals, of respecting each other of being there for each other. So there is no maha passionate eye locks or love at first sight, but there is something deeper which is more long lasting. Yehi tou hai love from agency, ki mai tumhe bindaas bol sakti hun ki what I think — and that I can be male or female. All your points are so interesting ❤️

@ bold - omg yes!!! The whole thing is at one level they are treating males and females as equals. They are showing us, we start equal, but society and patriarchy is dividing us. Just enjoyed that

A glimpse of Bilal was less than enough and a non-existent Sheheryar is now annoying me. Even Babar Ali and Salman's mother were not in today's episode to add some flavor. It has already been established that Samiya's fiance is not a right choice, and yet, she's ready to marry him for the sake of her mother's happiness. How many times more they've to repeat it? Watched the entire episode, but it feels as if I haven't watched anything. 😕

P.S. Joyland poster promotion was such a turn off..

@ bold - in this episode, there is something very important that they have shown - a woman’s agency no matter how wrong everyone may interpret it as. It’s done brilliantly in the scene between the sisters and phupo. Just very well done.
And then of course, hypocrisy or patriarchy - the scene when Phupo and Alia ask him who is the girl he was with, he just turns and says questions Ali and the other sister, this on the surface May seem like Phupo and Alia are being hypocrites because he is pointing fingers at them, but as viewers we know patriarchy and societal hypocrisy is giving him the guts to do it.

I think this isn’t a plot driven show, it’s a relationship driven show. This is not about high romance, it’s about equals in a true and realistic sense. For me the USP of this show is the subtle way they are driving certain power and relationship dynamics home. Every relationship is telling us something more than the dialogue, the situation and the interaction we are seeing them in. It’s beautifully crafted, I would say it’s like watching a novel on screen. It’s the diffference between online shopping and buying a joda by feeling the cloth ….

Mujhe bada mazaa aa raha hai,
