Pathaan smashes all RECORDS and creates history on day one by setting a new first day record as collections look like being around 53-54 crore in Hindi alone and a further 1 or 1.50 crore nett in southern languages. The collections coming from South are phenomenal which was expected but East is looking outstanding as well and these areas seem to have propelled the film to history. The collections are still coming and in and maybe the film could go higher but its at least certain that the records of War and KGF 2 are gone.

Mumbai city and Pune have recorded remarkable collections and look to have taken Mumbai circuit to a big number even though There is underperformance in Gujarat / Saurashtra. This has all happened on a non holiday which is simple extraordinary. The film was always going to collect huge but no one really expected this especially as what has gone on over the last year or so at the box office.

South India has seen all records go for Hindi films with Nizam / Andhra being phenomenal and East India could see records of KGF 2 fall in some areas which was simply historic there and Pathaan is up there with that film. KGF 2 had broken records in East India by leaps and bounds.

The performance is a little lower in CPCI Rajasthan and Gujarat but still collections are excellent. East Punjab could have been better also but again still excellent collections. These circuits are made to look lower as there are some crazy numbers coming from other circuits. The Hindi belt of CPCI Raj and Gujarat maybe a bit lower but UP and Bihar are outstanding so its likely there have been more protests in the likes of MP and Gujarat which has kept the business lower there.

The Hindi film industry is truly back today and Pathaan shows that theatrical is alive and kicking and it also shows the potential out there with the right film. There may be agendas out there against the Hindi film industry but the reason they are there is becasue the industry is so huge and popular with an insane reach which no industry iin india can even comes close. This has been built over generations. The last decade or two has seen a lot of content with limited reach which has to change and lets hope Pathaan shows the way forward.

Maan gaye bhai. Hype hai SRK ki! And I am genuinely more excited for Jawaan. But that's for a later discussion.
