It blows my mind that some people in India are against SRK for whatever vendetta they have against him (religion or anti-Bollywood or whatever.) Is there any other song that captures the experience of being Indian than this title track?

No, the movie as such wasn't "bad" although it wasn't 'flawless' either.

And no again, it didn't "tank" their company...they made Asoka and Chalte Chalte before Dreamz Unlimited was followed by Red Chillies.

Still, I would be interested in getting to know what exactly you found bad.

Personally, I find the movie still very relevant today...and the scene where all the people silently protested with the Indian flag in hand made me tearing up...How much I wish this successful unity to happen more often outside the movie...

I can’t fathom it either. You can dislike him as an actor but how could anyone be completely against him as a person? This is a major red flag for me. I love that bit as well. This is another Pro-Indian song that’s very emotional. SRK makes you feel the emotions and love.
