I don't think he is inconsistent in this case. When pakhi was proven infertile, the first thing he thought is sai will take vinu from pakhi AGAIN.Don't trust him. Last episode mei dikhayega yeh. Roz episode standalone dikhta hai. Do dinse V bappa se pray kar raha thha k mera meta muje abhi abhi mila hai n all n then yesterday embraced him for himself.

It's not only injustice to Sai, but to both kids as well to keep them in munh bole rishte
So he thinks sai took away vinu not only from him but from pakhi too.
If sai takes vinu away from pakhi, vinu will be away from him too. That's why he was shown fearing about loosing vinu. Because not just pakhi, he too should loose vinu if sai knows the truth.
Leaving pakhi, living with sai for kids was never a option for him.
