back when printing was new, the hardback (bound) volumes were usually bound in leather, which is kinda expensive. Also they use better pages as it were only the elite who would purchase books. That tradition continues, a normal hard bound is usually priced 1500 and above. Some go around 5-7k per book. Hard bounds survive longer are it keeps the pages intact with the protective cover. All the libraries mostly have hard bound books. Spines aren't destroyed that easily.
Soft bounds range within 150-700, depending on publication, author and so on.
