I didn't find this dialogue odd... I rather felt that it was actually V blaming himself... because he misjudged her. He knew somewhere Sai can't do it... not because she can't but because she won't.

And also not like an illicit relationship... if she had given birth to any other man's child... it would be in a legal relationship... since she is not married... it can only be V's child.

I guess this is what he meant when he said dil se.. Atma se...

He let his family call sai names like shameless and all during amay track when she fake flirted him.

What he did is not taking stand for pakhi character. What he did is covering pakhi mistakes.

No one including sai said pakhi slept with him or any kind of that, what they all said is pakhi is behind virat and she is faking with samrat which is true. And no one knows it better than virat. Still he protected pakhi at the cost of making sai a fool and lier.

That's not called taking stand for a woman.

@bold and the same man himself questioned shruti character (even before she fell for him) just because she showed some concern.

Insulting woman in private, and pretending to take stand for them in public proves he is image conscious. He don't want to named as the man who thinks cheaply of women when in real he does.
