yes it was very cruel .. Virat has somewhat lost his humanity .. there is a somewhat anger in him .. he knows she has not cheated on him but the love in her has died for him .. she does not care much what he does with pakhi .. so there is resentment and there is anger also that she hid his daughter from him .. she had a valid reason to come back but she never did ..
if she had not been discovered by chance he would have never known about his child ..
