Do that, and the insecurity/worry in the players' mind will be so much that every batsman will play for themselves, and not the team.

Likewise for the bowlers- they will literally be fighting among themselves to bowl to the weak batsmen in such a scenario 😃

And many great players started poorly in their careers. But several are persisted with because they show a high talent ceiling. Sometimes that risk of giving someone repeated opportunities pays off; sometimes it doesn't.
