One of my favourite movies of the 90's.

Can watch it again and again.

Fairytale romance, coming together despite the odds.

Quoting from a portal: "Pooja and Rahul’s love story was cute, but let’s be honest, that man was looking for a girl who didn’t exist and she wanted a fairy tale romance. Good thing they found each other."

The music, the background score, cinematography, costumes and overall look and feel of DTPH was very modern for its time.❤️

Music by Uttam Singh, Costumes Manish Malhotra, Choreography by Shamak Dhavar and rest of the technical crew.... they're actually the unsung heroes of this film.

The storyline doesn't make sense when you start to put 'logic' in every scene😵, but the audiences at that time were more into feel-good cinema and escapism. So, I have absolutely no qualms in watching this film even today.😆

I also loved the first-half of the film, more than the 2nd half but Lolo is still my favorite part of this film.

Not to mention, Madhuri looked like a dream in this film.

It's a movie that reminded me of the old Hollywood musical movies where almost always a show was put on stage.

For an Indian movie, what Yashji did in DTPH, this was something new, I think...refreshing new, imo...with rather realistic songs explained by the script (a part of staging a musical, rehearsals, emotional expression towards a fellow artist)...not like showing emotional and erotic fantasies or being Item songs.

The plot itself with the A loves B, but B loves C (and C is committed to D, but loves B in return) isn't something new but it is told in a way that the staging of the show is the common ground (and at the climax, it's the show where the happy ending happens - like later in Aditya's movie RNBDJ).

I found DTPH rather refreshing with it's combination of traditional and youthfully modern and I love the music/songs and the way the modern life played a role in the film.

It is a highly irritating, stereotypical and regressive film. Especially dialogues Pooja has with her friend on 'Hindustani ladkiyan' and their dreams. As if woman has no purpose in life except to dream of a man and ideal Indian girls always go for a man their elders choose and 'fall in love' after marriage blah blah.

I hate how 90s films always showed as if young people have no aim in life, no studies or work or ambitions or issues to deal with except dream of love. Depiction of love is also shallow with aimless gaze towards moon or rain.

Subtract that Aur paas scene and this film has no repeat value IMO. SRK and MD were fire in that scene. Probably the most sensuous scene in history of Indian cinema.

Very decently done. Any other actor like say Emraan Hashmi would have ruined it.

I do not like its music. Hate the Chak dhoom dhoom one the most.

Madhuri looked older for the immature and naive girl role she did. The role needed a younger looking woman.

Madhuri was mature and has a wiser look for such a role.

I dislike this film and find it shallow.

Sorry to its fans.

There is no need to be/say/write "sorry", I think 😉You have your opinion like we have ours.

The song/dance with the children is the favourite of our kids here...and they did not find Madhuri too old (neither do I). They found Akshay too old for her but thought it was a nice man to let Madhuri go. They liked all song/dances that had a connection to the stage show but could have done without the song after the "aur pas" (me too).

The two women in the movie had professional ambitions and I imagine the leading pair continue to do stage shows and Karisma also may continue to be a professional dancer.

One of my favourites, but if I get someone new to watch it, they hate the movie.

I loved loved Karisma in this, she became my style icon and that of my cousins who were around the same age. The nostalgia is strong with this one.

Did they? Madhuri seemed to have no other aim in life except wait for some dream man to sweep her off her feet.

Even Karishma seemed less focused on her career. I sometimes wondered if she was with Rahul's group because of her passion to perform or because she had a crush on Rahul?

Anyway the film seemed a tad unrealistic because in India,it is hard to see girls like Lolo living on their own and openly interacting with male friends and friends living together or visiting each other and checking for each other in hospital too. And no nosy uncle or family slandering their character for it. Pretty forward portrayal for a 90s film.

Quite urban and hard to relate for smaller towns.

I am not surprised Border outgrossed this film that year.

I kind of like how SRK respects boundaries of his female friends and woman he has crush on. He never takes advantage of them. His and Lolo's realisation about uncomfortable feelings is respectful. No bitterness. Same for Akshay and his family not being bitter nor treating Madhuri as a thankless orphan. It is very hard to let go of someone or realise other person does not love you the way you love them.

I also liked how SRK left it at a kiss on the neck and hug but did not sleep with MD or impregnate her. The boundaries part is good. There is dignity in this romantic film.

Men in the forum, please tell me this:

Is your idea of a dream girl a grown woman who prances around meadows, waving her dupatta? If I saw someone do that, I'd think she needed a doctor.🤷‍♀️
