The plot was inspired from a novel (Good Children Don't Kill) and the entire jail/jail-break sequence was lifted from Escape from Alcatraz. The music as well was sampled from so many classic songs.

It doesn't bother me though. Gupt proved how you could make a stellar movie even if you take inspiration from various other sources.

I guess it all worked well together specially for 90s thriller standards.

Out of the list , Gupt . Otherwise a tough call b/w Mr & Mrs Khiladi , Gupt & Yes Boss . Just like '96 , more of memorable musically only (in fact way more than '96 , would be a long list if I share fav. songs from '97) .

Judwa and Koyla for me, loved both those. Hero no 1 snd DTPH we’re also very good.
