That’s fine and dandy but what does her grandpa say on the matter? And the very conservative Kapoor side of the family? Although both of her paternal grandparents are gone and I doubt the rest of the family has any hold over Nikhil Nanda and his children anyway. But Amitabh Bachchan will shit a brick if a girl in his family gets pregnant before marriage.

In a countrty like UAE, if a women gets pregnant before marriage, she will be punished by law.

All I want is if a girl in a country like India becomes pregnant out of wedlock, like a teen girl 14/16, her family and the society should help her and be sympathetic with her to make her feel normal and help her with the child.

The only problem with having kids out of wedlock is, if trouble happens later between the partners, the child may not have as many rights in court as a legitimate child.

That’s a progressive thought. Surprising to see this coming from someone like Jaya who otherwise upholds patriarchal traditions.

Even I thought maybe all this talk about being old school has gotten into the Bachchan’s head. While I appreciate Jaya Bachchan making an effort to liberal. This is a bit too liberal for me?

I consider my parents very liberal. But if a boyfriend’s mother had ever said they don’t need to get hitched just give me a grandchild. They would walk out the door right then and there. And tell me you are never speaking to that boy again.

Of course if I end up getting pregnant. No one is going to disown their child. But it is not what any parents want ideally. Chalo at least the woman made an effort.

She is a politician. How about doing things like making childcare more available in India. So more women can work. Statistics show the number of women in the Indian workforce has declined in recent years. It is proven the more women in the workforce the more a nation makes progress as a whole. It is essential if any nation wants to become a super power.

Probably spoke this to sound cool and offset the hate she gets for her behaviour and patriarchal views.

The Bachchans have been giving flops of late except Ash in PS1. Hence trying tactics to get attention through sensationalist podcasts, SM posts, interviews.

Nandas and Bachchans will hide truth and lock girls up and force abortion if anyone got pregnant out of wedlock.

I personally do not recommend kids out of wedlock as it is difficult for child due to all social or legal hassles or if either parent is not willing to take child's responsibility.

Not judging the woman or man in such cases but thinking purely from POV of child.

Masaba also had to go through lot of bullying all life for being born out of wedlock. I am glad she and Neena wear their identity on their sleeve and are unapologetic.

If women have resources to take responsibility of child then so be it. Otherwise a foolhardy decision to get pregnant out of wedlock especially if you are yet to complete education or are not financially independent or not mature or are yet to know ways of the world or what it takes to raise a child and what is parenting..
