Below you will find the setup, the additional information, and the character sketches that each person got. The teams have been provided below again. The red name in the list was the detective, the bolded names were the murderers, and the rest were suspects.

Points were allocated as follows:

- the detectives who made an accusation (name + motive) and were right got 50 points

- the murderers who got accused correctly got 10 points

- the suspects from those teams got 25 points

- the detectives who made no accusations or made the wrong accusations (either wrong name or wrong motive) got 10 points

- the murderers who got away with murder got 50 points

- the suspects from those teams got 25 points

- the suspects who were wrongly accused got 10 points (except me cause I'm not playing)

The setup – A new restaurant, Blind, has opened up in town. It’s a restaurant where you eat completely in the dark so that you cannot see your food. You, the detective, are having dinner with a friend when suddenly there is a scream in the dark. This leads to 4 other people screaming and the lights are immediately turned on to find the source of the screams. You rush towards the screams to find a man slumped over the table, bleeding from his head. You check his pulse and find that he is dead. There are 4 other people sitting with him and you immediately suspect them to be guilty as the restaurant was virtually empty (there was only a senior couple sitting at the other end of the restaurant and no staff was on the restaurant floor at the time of the screams). You lock down the restaurant and sequester the 4 suspects in 4 different rooms and then you spend time questioning each suspect as the forensics team gathers the evidence.

Additional information – The victim’s name is David Abraham. He was a 40 year old tech tycoon who was having lunch with his 4 senior executives. The lunch was his first step in testing who would be the best fit for his position as CEO and CTO of the company as he was planning on retiring in a year and was going to promote one of his executives to his position. His 4 executives are the CFO, the CIO, the CMO, and the COO (note that each suspect has been assigned their role and this has been stated in the thread to make your job easier).

Note 1 – Officers examining the 4 suspects’ backgrounds will find out the following information – (1) The CFO has an account in Switzerland and had a ticket booked for a one-way trip to Switzerland in a week. (2) The COO had a sister who was raped and murdered in college and the case was never solved. (3) The CIO used to work in another company previously where she had an affair with the CEO, got a big payout, and then quit and moved to the current company. (4) The CMO has been using the identity of a baby who died over 50 years ago and matches the description of a con artist wanted in 4 countries.

Note 2 – Forensic evidence found a gun in the COO’s bag, but there are no fingerprints on it and the registration number is filed off. Additionally there is no silencer and no one heard a gunshot. They also found a bloody knife in the CIO’s bag which also has no fingerprints on it. The coroner has made a preliminary examination of David’s body and concludes that a knife could be the weapon.

The murderer – You are the murderer, specifically the COO. You are well aware that the CIO was having an affair with David to gain the promotion and you were threatening to tell David’s wife who is your best friend. This is key because David’s wife holds 84% of the company shares and if she found out about David’s cheating, then she would leave him and the company would be given to her. You haven’t told his wife because she wouldn’t make you CEO/CTO of the company, instead giving the role to her brother, but no one knows this apart from you. You will attempt to use most of this information to misdirect the detective. You can also point out that the CFO was embezzling funds from the company, something you found out recently, as another way of deflecting attention. You didn’t kill David for the promotion though. You killed David because you realized that David was behind your sister’s death in college. Your sister was raped and murdered and her culprit was never caught. A few months ago, David confessed his crime to you in a state of drunkness and bragged about getting away with it. He didn’t remember this but you started plotting his death from that day.

The CFO – You are playing the role of the CFO, a suspect, not the murderer. You have been embezzling funds from the company as you are aware that David has been cooking the books (as in lying about contracts, faking revenue, etc.) and you are also aware that the FBI will soon have enough evidence to incriminate David. You want to use this information (not the information that you are embezzling funds but the rest of it) to deflect blame and claim that you never wanted to be promoted to CEO/CTO. You are also aware that the CIO was having an affair with David and that the CMO was blackmailing David and the CIO for money using this money, so use this information to continue to deflect the blame.

The CIO – You are playing the role of the CIO, a suspect, not the murderer. You have been having an affair with David to gain the promotion, a fact that the other 3 executives are aware of. You know that they will use this affair as a way of pointing at you as the suspect so you will immediately be forthcoming with this information when the detective questions you. Along with this you will point out that you were having this affair openly and David knew it was about getting the promotion. You will also point to the CMO who has been blackmailing you and David for money using this affair as ammo. You can also deflect blame on the COO who you are aware has been working with David to gain overpriced contracts and even faking revenue.

The CMO – You are playing the role of the CMO, a suspect, not the murderer. You are aware that the CIO was having an affair with David to gain the promotion and you were blackmailing both of them for money. You will volunteer the former information (about the affair) but keep your blackmailing quiet. If the detective finds out about your blackmailing, you can deflect suspicion to the CFO as you are aware that the CFO has been embezzling funds from the company, something that the COO told you about recently. You were planning on working with the COO to reveal the CFO’s embezzlement to David so that she gets kicked out and your chances of getting the promotion are increased.

You will get 5 points for every UN that matches the criteria provided, but you will also lose 5 points for every UN that doesn’t match the criteria provided, so be very careful!
