I believe the Tamil version had lot of interesting tracks. Virat has a memory loss track too where Sai had to try and revive his memories. JG kidnaps Sai, & Virat sees that, gets his memory back and fights with JG. But it ended abruptly because the actor playing Virat quit apparently

Ok take this:

Virat always knew the tension between his mother, father and BK. Had to make sure none feels bad and walked the tricky tightrope of balance. In this he had to ensure to behave as per script. He could not divert from it. This we have image conscious Virat with a gigantic Placating nature.

The he meets typhoon Sai who is most like 'Aye toh Welcome, Jaye toh Bheer Kam' kind of a person. This makes his inner suppressed self that never got to grow slowly blossom. It is not black vs white. Virat's real self/suppressed self is no saint. Being suppressed for long, it is egoistic, selfish, toxic and clingy. It simply wants and wants; not oriented to giving. That flawed self is enthralled with Sai's brightness.

It latches onto her and since it is real and not a facade; Virat has a tendency to blur everything when he is happy with Sai. He is fixated with her/ more like a part of his soul is. This is sheer escapism at play that grew into a toxic haven of love.

Virat has deep issues. In fact Ninad and Ashwini and BK are responsible for it. Ashwini with her tendency to adjust and always treat him like the son who can make no mistake, made him adopt his facade, rarely speak out against wrongs and expect Sai to treat him the same. Unfortunately, Sai neither trusted him that much not was blind or mute to things. BK and her authoritative nature revolved around Virat as the heir. So he learnt to take things and declare things; give and lose ground only with motive or bigger goal. Virat essentially turned narcissistic and selfish with obsession to protect and maintain his territory - his family image.

Ninad has the most Interesting contribution to make. He idealized his strong father; saw him as perfect. He copied him almost. Then Ninad had to go and break his illusions by confessing about the real reason he left the army. This took away Virat's ideal.

So now we have a selfish, authoritative, Raja Beta with no ideal to tether him. He goes to Gadchiroli and meets his mentor. All of a sudden Kamal Sir ia enough to fill the vacuum. As he adjusts, his destabilized Perfect image self that is sort of weakened meets Sai and his real self gets a chance to seep out of his Wounded Perfect self.

He begins copying his mentor and starts getting protective of Sai. Slowly her brash attitude and open self starts cutting off his chains. The real Virat begins to peek through and of course Sai being the focal point tethers that flawed real self of Virat.

His Image conscious perfect self isn't happy. That self is troubled. He cannot like Sai. Also he has made promises. Then the Jagtap issue comes up and his Perfect Self gets an excuse to retain the moral high ground: He will be her saviour. He will keep her safe.

And with this his two selves reach a doable compromise.

Virat's extreme emotions originate from his suppressed, flawed real self. The self that is fixated on Sai to the point of obsession. It is the influence of this Self that made his Perfect Image Conscious self chose to play the heart broken husband card and self victimse himself. Any other excuse or reason would have clashed both his selves together. This was the only one that was acceptable.

The real flawed self of Virat is also no hero. In fact it is probably more toxic in comparison. That self also considers Sai his territory. His outbursts at BK originate from that.

In a way Virat hates and loves Sai. His Perfect Image Self despises Sai more than Patralekha and BK's hatred put together.

His Real flawed suppressed self considers himself Sai's owner. She is his territory and he "loves" Her.

That's how I see Virat. Virat's antagonistic expressions towards Sai can be explained by this if Neil supposedly reads his character like I do.

But I don't think the CVs really go this deep. Ah well, Khayal mein hi sahi, this is how I read Virat.

Also, extra interpretation:

Virat tolerates and gives Leeway to Pakhi because she loves his Perfect image self. That perfect image self is characterized by his utmost devotion to his family; his best pretension. That's the Virat Pakhi met. Her loving him Justifies the existence of his Perfect Image Self that is a construct. It is not real.

While Sai dragged out his real self. The self that probably doesn't care that much for his family like he pretends. That is toxic and self obsessed. So Sai is a Threat to Virat himself.

So far what they've shown his trigger point towards Sai has been Jagtap.

What do you think of his move on drama progression with P in every episode? Then again it goes back & forth, they show distant then again something is shown now Pakhi bringing Sai in which helped Vinayak getting out of the washroom. His mind works in a weird way. Like in hospital track few weeks he credited Pakhi then we saw closeness b/w them & now this? Dunno what will we have to witness now 😩 ideally he should credit Sai now.

Virat's Perfect Image adopted the facade and excuse of Playing the heart broken husband who suffered with the death of his wife. That was suitable to his image. He would mourn Sai (because his real flawed self was hurt and in anguish at being rejected for Sai disregarded his ownership of her), and get sympathized with by all. Patralekha will be by the side without expecting much. Whatever he gave, she would take it as a blessing. Because she knows her truth and in her POV, Virat is in deep pain. So she will know her place and act as per what he wanted. Even if they were to get physical someday, she will know not to expect that level of devotion that he gave Sai. So this situation was in a way suitable.

So look at the equation like this:

Sai died = He lost her = acceptable to His image.

(He could mourn her and play holier than thou image)

Sai didn't Die = She willingly didn't return = unacceptable to his image

(this means that Sai disregarded his ownership of her. She also walked over all the efforts he made for her. The efforts are not enough for audience or Sai but he definitely did put efforts that he didn't do for anyone else. He is a twisted soul; so whatever he did was twisted too)

Therefore him playing the heart broken husband at his wife's death is in vain. Sai didn't willingly return. She rejected him. She chose to live without him. He doesn't know she was waiting for him of course. From His POV, Virat Chavan became replaceable for Sai. Someone else tool his place and got what he wanted - a child with Sai and hence a permanent bond to Sai. Honestly speaking his Perfect Image Self would have preferred her dead.

Savi is Virat's victory because her existence gives him a permanently chain to tie Sai to himself. Virat frankly has a delusion that he is the Sun that Sai should revolve around. Unfortunately for him, Sai has a spine and a conscience.

First of all Virat doesn't hate Savi despicable believing that Sai moved on. He in fact interacts lovingly with the child. Because Savi is Sai's. His trigger as you said is Jagtap. And this is not because Jagtap killed Kamal sir Or Samrat. Those are reasons, yes, but Virat's hatred fro Jagtap runs much deeper. Jagtap is the only person other than himself who is madly obsessed with Sai. Virat maintains an image and has control over his actions. He also made sure to never hurt Sai's dignity the way Jagtap did. With his Perfect Image syndrome, he took the saviour role.

But apart from that both are similarly obsessed towards Sai. Both want to possess her and want that her world revolves around themselves. Jagtap killed and committed crimes to get Sai. Virat emotionally manipulated and frequently gaslighted Sai to keep her dependent on him.

Hence something inside Virat is twisted enough to consider Jagtap his competition. He is vike enough to imagine Sai accepting Jagtap because he has the capacity to do it; to accept a criminal's apology and move on. But he doesn't want Sai to do it. Because..... Sai moving on means - Virat is Replaceable in her life.

This is something he cannot digest. And this comes to his mind whenever he sees Jagtap. Had it been any other man, Virat probably won't react in this volatile manner. He wil stew furiously and cry foul and manipulate. But Jagtap symbolizes the similar obsession his flawed self shares to Sai. This is his trigger. His perfect image is in danger. Because despite all his actions and drama, he too is similar to Jagtap in one major thing: None of them have ever been able to move on from Sai.

He definitely feels a lot. Patralekha Or Pakhi is the most suitable candidate for him to maintain his Perfect Image Self. She will take what he gives, she will toe the line. He sets. He can easily gaslight her too by reminding her of her actions that snatched Sai if she tries to force him into anything. She is too terrified to lose him. He knows she loves him. She even confessed. But what does he say? He says you shouldn't have said it and causally goes on with life.

Patralekha loved his Perfect Image Self. Her love in a way justifies his holier than thou attitude. Which is why he keeps her with him. But does he solidly love her?

Well I do not know about that but what I can say is that if there is one person Virat loves - it is himself.

And yes even I too feel, he cannot love any child more than he loves the child with Sai, Remember miscarriage and the way he grieve the loss of that child, he didn't have that much grief in losing even baby Vinu and true Savi will be his victory for sure, that's why I feel he will love Savi the most and that's where Vinu's insecurity of being adopted will come to fore front.....

Please do it for Sai and Patralekha also....😉

What I mean the relationship between Sai n virat is totally over at this point . It does not even hurt Sai to see him with patralekha n Vinayak

His Perfect Image Self - Virat Chavan who is the perfect heir of the family; someone perfect, respectful towards elders, calm, serene, beatific . He has learnt not to fight against injustice when it is his own family committee it and be a hypocrite in general. He is authoritative and has domineering tendencies. Interestingly He also shows sacrificial tendencies and altruism. It is this self that plays the victim card. He is obsessed about being the most perfect one in the family since he has always been treated so. As such he reacts in a manner to retain that self of his. All his actions are to preserve the family image and his own too. He has to remain perfect to be important for the family. This self mainly functions by justifying actions with a moral high ground and playing then victim.

His real flawed self - His Suppressed self who doesn't want to toe the line of being the Raja Beta. The self that is suffocated by the Family and is twisted deeply in the BK-Ninad-Ashwini triangle. This self is deeply selfish, narcissistic, territorial and also deeply immature for it never got the chance to grow well. In a vile tendency, it understands ownership and concept of -either his or not his. This is the self that fixates on what it wants rather than the family. This is why whenever he is happy with Sai, all else disappears. He takes a back seat when Sai bulldozes over his family; for till then Sai is stamped in his ownership. However when she threatens his other self, this self gets suppressed by his Perfect Image Self and he takes the side of the family. But after the altercation, his real self surfaces and he goes after her to manao her. 🤷‍♀️

I might sound bitter but sairat were actually dead the day Sai was presumed dead with Vinayak. There was one particular shot in front of fire on that accident area where one side Sai was crying and another Virat, there emotions were burned on that day. The only thing as of now makes them connected from is the fire burning inside their heart, the fire of ego, pain, betrayal, broken promises and distrust.

Writers have long way to go to fix sairat but before that Sai & Virat needs to understand each other's as an individual without any baggage I feel.
