Why romantic + sad songs are commonly loved by people?

be it 90 , 2000 or 2022 , why is that people kept on liking love or sad songs,, there could be many classical bandish , or any depthful song etc , music that were made during 60's 70's were mix of every emotion and singing style , since 90s the decade was full of romantic sad songs , 2000 upto 2003 was similar as of late 90s but yeah few qawali's also got made by that time which was different , but over all bunch of romantic similar songs with different tune and lyrics were being made every year, why music got only limited to romance ?, and to now people are now more acceptable toward RAP genre too but side by side a love song get acknowledged like keseriya, so can we assume that 60-70s had more variety then today ?
