Amba is also crazy in love with Dev like Vidhi.

Amba is smart, intelligent and classy which Vidhi will become given how fast she is gaining confidence.

Amba developed a good rep with Dev's family like Vidhi.

Difference between them

Amba is shrewd and manipulative whereas Vidhi is naive and innocent.

Amba is older Vidhi is younger

Iss vishya pe Zara prakash daale why Amba is ignored by Dev and Vidhi is attracting him?

The first thing that Dev noticed in Vidhi was her honesty and simplicity both of which are missing in Amba. Amba is neither simple nor honest, she is manipulative and plays with words to twist the situation under her control.

The next thing that made Dev in awe of Vidhi was her simple yet deep philosophy towards life, which affected him so much that he incorporated that philosophy in his decision-making like the lohe ki kulhadi story. Amba has nothing like that, her philosophy changes with situation because only end goal matters to her, she has no deep rooted philosophy or principle she goes by.

My point is that Vidhi's words are simple but straight from her heart and direct, not coated or filtered by anything motive-oriented and that's why they reach Dev's heart. For example - "Iss suit mein toh aap chand se bhi dikh jaayein", "keeping change in wallet always", "treat vs party", "saving paper and tissues", "telling about Balghar to Satyavati", all these made an impact on Dev because they were truthful and honest but not aimed at pleasing him. And Dev converted her words and advice into action. At his stature and position, he is surrounded by people who want to please him all the time, Amba included although her motive is different than others.

Dev himself is simple and truthful and values the same in others. And our Vidhi is the epitome of simplicity. So, of course he would be drawn towards her. How could he ever be drawn towards anyone as manipulative as Amba, even if we ignore her obsession for a moment (obsession on Amba's part repulsed Dev even farther).

These things in Vidhi made Dev confide in her, telling her the Balghar secret he says, "main nahin jaanta tumhe kyun bata raha hun", but deep down her honesty and truthfulness had made an impression on him that she is trustworthy. Of course, all those years the shell that Dev had made around him, not letting anyone in, kept interfering for a while and initially he did doubt her for a few things, "that note of secrets", "gossip about him and Amba", but soon he realises he is wrong and now he trusts Vidhi completely, so completely that even when her parents don't believe her, he does - the alcohol fiasco. He could never feel this connection with Amba because he never found her trustworthy.

Another thing that drew Dev towards Vidhi was that being so naive and new to this world's ways, she needed protection at many levels. And given Dev's history as a protecter of his family from an early age, he felt the need to protect her, to teach her world's ways. This added another layer to their relationship. This was never the case with Amba. He never felt the need to protect her because she never really needed his protection, she was self sufficient from the get go.

Then there was the Khaugali Treat, where he breathed free again after all those years, laughed freely again. Here also he said, "log doston ke saath yahan aate hai, main tumhare saath aaya, pata nahin kyun". But the reason was the connection that was made between them - one of trust, unsaid understanding, simplicity and honesty. This could never have been possible with Amba, he never formed that connection with her.

And with all this, Vidhi made an imprint in his heart without him knowing, she became a friend with whom he could share his heart, though because of his closed nature, he kept her at bay or at least tried to. And we all know with time, you never know when that imprint turns into love, which is what is happening with him now, leaving him confused.

Remember the Khaugali wala Dev, laughing, smiling, enjoying, cracking jokes, that's Dev when he lets himself be with Vidhi. Now he is restraining himself. But once he lets himself be in love, feel the love, I believe he will be a different Dev, may not be a crazy aashik by today's standards but crazy enough, childish enough to be in embarrassing situations, at least in front of Vidhi. Baki sabke saamne image banaye rakhne ki koshish toh karega hi. But Ghar mein, Vidhi ke saamne, I think we will get some interesting scenes.

Hats off..👏Last vidhi knows her limit when she have to back off.even she confess she let him decide whether to accept it like in office she said u have to decide whether it is correct or incorrect whatever she feels for him...she never pushed his limits..even it's his decision to discuss balghar with his mother and amba presence somewhere always made him uncomfortable...and to think only for her goal and impulsive nature...like when dev rejected her she targeted vidhi...to bring dev to party etc...

@bold- maine aise socha nahi tha. But now that you mention it, seems quite possible. The way he keeps telling Vidhi that you have to earn respect and that comes from education and all. Seems like he himself struggled quite a lot.

I do hope they give some good backstory to them otherwise it seems a bit weird that he didn't fall for Amba but is falling for Vidhi so easily

@BOLD

I think it doesn't if you carefully look at it.

I remember a dialogue from Kuch Toh Log Kahenge. There was similar situation there. Amba's counterpart there asks, "why couldn't you ever love me, I loved you all these years". The answer Ashutosh (Dev's counterpart) gives sums it all. He says, "Two dried up rivers can never quest anyone's thurst, let alone each other's, they can never complete each other."

Amba longs for Dev as if without him she has nothing in her life, like a dried up river in wait for water. But Dev is dried up too, from the life long responsibilities, so much so that Dev loves his family but never confides in them, even his mother untill Vidhi makes him understand. How can they both ever fulfill each other.

Vidhi lacked self-confidence but she was always full of life, remember her interaction with her family and especially Balghar's kids where she could be herself. Only in front of people she became nervous and made blunders. Vidhi has that childish spark that brings out the child in Dev, for example in the Khaugali Treat where he says, "Zindagi bhar ka bachpan de diya". Vidhi's words touch Dev's heart because they are truthful and from her heart and these words impact his life like nothing else has in a long long time. Like Dev says, "wo badlaav jisse main zindagi bhar bachta aaya hun".

Thanks

@ BLUE

Exactly and that's the mark of a sane well-wisher, be it a friend or a lover. You say your piece respectfully and politely and let the person decide, don't force.

@RED

Remember the background score that plays for Amba. It truly matches her intentions, her obsessive love. How could Dev ever fall for her.
