Twerps, you analyse this show so beautifully that I cannot help but ask- what was that scene with Ayesha looking at her phone smiling, and then Basit getting uncomfortable for a split second and asking her to whom was she talking?
Did Basit suspect Ayesha and Fahad again? Or is it that he’s become possessive of her and anybody else taking away her attention from Basit and making her smile perturbs him?
Girrrrl! That scene was so cute! And you analyse this show exquisitely and I always look forward to reading your takes sooo 😆
But if we are to unpack that exchange...I felt that Basit changes over the course of his forced stay at the hospital. Even after knowing the truth from Fahad about Zoya initially he is hesitant about receiving this care from Ayesha and asks her to go home and send Karim instead. At night instead of waking her up he tries to get the water himself. But then after that we see that he has now grown to love this care he is getting from Ayesha. He tells her that he needs her help and wants her to help him with his meal. I have not found the time to make the gifs but there is this moment when he is smiling as she is feeding him soup when he says "You had one job". But within that scene his expression changes from one of amusement to one of longing as he looks at Ayesha. He wants her attention, he wants to become the centre of her world. When she repeats his own words about the flowers, I think he remembered how he had given the bouquet to her and thanks her.
And then for that scene when she is chatting with a friend, he feels jealousy. He has always been possessive about those he loves and that will never change. He first tries to draw her attention by talking about work. Then he literally frowns as she smiles at the screen. He wants her to smile at him, not at someone else. But the difference from his early behaviour is the way he reacts to Ayesha saying that she was chatting with a friend. I think she deliberately says 'friend' as a sign of defiance like you can suspect me if you want , I don't care. And this time, Basit does not jump to the immediate conclusion that she is cheating on him. Rather he sees her defiance for what it is, her naraazgi for the way he had behaved with her. So he draws her into a conversation and when she talks to him, you can see how her words make him happy. He could just lie there for the rest of his life listening to her. When Bano comes in, Basit is in such a good mood. We have never seen him so happy before this I think. 😆
Btw cappa, working on the fic? I am dying to see your version of Basit in love
