Agree with you Lizzie Priya. ❤️ He is singing with such ease, quite effortlessly, beautiful singing.Originally posted by: LizzieBennet
It's no secret that I'm a die-hard Rafi fan, all of you who have interacted with me on this thread should know this by now! 😳😆
I have always maintained that the originals are GOLD and should not be touched & this is only reinforced when I hear covers of the Golden oldies & find they just do not do them justice. I find this especially so in case of Rafi because I think he imbued his songs with so much soul. Not just me, so many people have said how he would channel the emotions of the actor on screen when singing. So many Rafi imitators have come and gone, but I still thought no one could come close to the man.
And then I discovered Sanjeev Ramabhadran. Well, perhaps I should say re-discovered because I was blown away by how brilliantly he sung 'Yehi Armaan lekar' on Saregama hosted by Sonu Nigam. Even Naushad was impressed!
I recently heard this YT series by him: A tribute to Rafi. I recommend all Rafi lovers (and even non-Rafi lovers if such a breed exists 😆) to please hear him. He's incredible! He channels the very soul of Rafi into his songs, I swear for some of the songs, I could not tell if it was Rafi or someone else singing when I heard him from another room.
This is a 40 episode video series on YT where he focuses on one MD per episode starting with Ghulam Mohammad and ending with Naushad. Just him and his harmonium. Addictive stuff!

This is incredible! I listened to Choudahvi ka Chand and it was definitely closest. He took exactly the same pauses and voice modulations and still it did not sound like just imitation. Listening to Rafi gives a different kind of Sukoon, could feel that here too. Thanks for sharing this.

We will never forget a few yearning melodies for their lyrics, music, and the context in which they were used in the film!!
Speechless ....what a singing. Can anybody other than Lata sing like this ! . Each word is filled with full of emoticons ! Raag Bhairavi is Sankar Jaikishan's favourite raga.
I’ve been rediscovering some gems from the 40s.
Here’s one I hadn’t heard in years, Rafi’s voice is sublime as always, I love the slightly lower octave he chose for this song, it suits the mood. And the arrangement by Naushad is genius, the use of the sitar in the interludes! 🤩 Lyrics are by Shakeel, from the film Dillagi (1949) which also has the famous ‘Tu mera chaand main teri chandni’ among other hits. This song stands out for me!
