I am not saying dev reacted in a bad way or anything . if you go and see the episode vidhi did wear the dress out of her own choice and did look quite comfortable in it even before getting drunk. Yes amba told her to wear it but ultimately it was her own choice. The discussion we were having was about a larger problem in the narrative of females in serials which is also an extension of real life as well where more than the female who is going through the problem the parents are often victimised and shown from the lens of "bechare parents ke sath kya hogya".Even in this case if you look at the way Hp is reacting it doesn't really matter to him ki vidhi is in this state it is more about the fact that vidhi broke his trust and all. Dev was correct in trying to protect her but his reaction to the situation and his blaming amba without recognizing that maybe there could be a tiny bit of vidhi wanting to blend in is what we were all pointing towards.in most situations, the burden of putting sanskaar first is always on the women and it is expected that they wont stray out of it .the way dev said vidhi would never wear something like that willingly sounded like he doesn't recognize that maybe vidhi wants to but simply cant.Originally posted by: Telly_Addict
can i interuppt and say why so much fuss abt the way Dev reacted.. ???
like imagine he had hard time doing detachment from Vidhi, he hasnt expressed his feelings, those are boiling inside and today he finds his girl being tricked into wearing a dress (no matter how decent it was... it wasnt her choice.. she was tricked into it) and then made drink to behave drunken... doesnt he has right to burst his emotions NOW.
like he has kept them inside so neatly tucked and one blow to see Vidhi (hurt/tricked/taken advantage of) and all masks went away..
secondly him putting it all on how her Dad ask him to take care of her was his way to keep his real feeling still masked.. he couldnt broadcast oh yes i like her.. i love her hence i cant see her that way.... he cant so he had to look for a way to convey his anger but not cause he was scared to death abt her safety.
lastly.. he did mention one line.. "if someone wants to wear western dress and we allow them saying its ur wish then is she doesnt want to wear then why such a big fuss that oh why cant she"
she was clearly uncomfortable in it, she was abt trip in heels.. so no matter how decent it looks to us, not revealing and all.. if a person wearing it finds it uncomfortable then IT IS UNCOMFORTABLE...
so i m in no way blaming Dev for the way he reacted.. it was out of character.. it wasnt out of place.... he knows Amba too well to know what she could have done.. (she had tricked in first episode to go on knees for his sister's happy married life..)
