My pop-theory on this is that AB like most men, craves to be given obsessive adulation (esp a man like him who has been used to it since day 1. Case in point: People rise when he enters rooms/sets in BW.) and a beautiful & very successful STAR like Rekha giving it to him, is what he loves. I don’t see love here. It’s almost like a master-slave dynamic.

ETA: I really hope you’re trolling otherwise I’ve just wasted my previous WL posts to engage with your post. LOL.

lol, there you go making assumptions about other people. I think she lived life the way she wanted to, so I wouldn't feel too sorry for her. Personally, I feel she's a bit weird... and a bit of a recluse. She did not exactly have a happy marriage with the guy she eventually married. He committed suicide. But she had tried to move on... so your theory that she did not move on is just cock-and-bull.😆 And just because she didn't remarry does not mean she did not move on, and it does not mean she's been pining away for him all he life since. That's your cuckoo assumption probably borne out of watching too many sad desi movies.😆 People often decide they are better off single, not unlike. a lot of females who are in the same boat.

Also, just because AB did not marry her does not mean he was not crazy about her. People can be torn- their heart wanting one thing, their mind saying another.

He also knew what Rekha was before she got makeover.

He is still reportedly using all women while being perfect family man in eyes of world and his wife taking care of him, his grandkids and kids.

lol by any chance, is it possible you don't like AB?😛😆

see a guy can be crazy about some girls, but that does not mean he's going to marry all of them. How do you know they did not have an understanding that it was just going to be temporary? Also, even if he only used Rekha, I don't see her complain. It seems she is perfectly fine living life the way she has. Why are you so het up? And why assume ki shaadi nahi hui toh she is unhappy? It's sounding like all those women in desi serials for whom marriage is the be all and end all of all existence😆

Parveen Babi’s resentment for him definitely showed when he came up in interviews.

I never said women who do not marry are unhappy. Rekha did get married though. And is a widow.

Rekha is happy to be used by Amitabh type cowardly philanderer then so be it. Amused to see some people see it as sign of living on own terms. Rekha is an obsessed type with low self esteem.

She has no spine or self respect.

Anyday women who are single and childfree by choice are better than this type who is happy to be used by another serial dumper.

Parveen loathed Amitabh and said he destroyed career of Rajesh Khanna and her and she also maintained she was mentally stable and it is AB who spread rumours against her mental health first.

destroyed RK's career? 😒 Dont you think RK is himself responsible for his career going down the tubes? He supposedly wanted to act only in romantic roles and turned down movie offers that eventually went to AB. He also destroyed his liver by drinking... and smoking, and putting on weight. In any case, what do you suppose happens in the corporate world? People compete, often ruthlessly. Some people lose, some people win. Only losers blame others for what happens... the winners take responsibility and get hold of things themselves. You cant blame AB for having had the good fortune to be at the right place at the right time with the right angry man toolset when audience tastes were changing, or for having played the game smartly.

btw, i've been singing a lot of RK songs lately 😆, and I have developed a fondness for the younger version of RK. But that does not mean that I dont think he screwed up in my estimation.

Yes, but Jaya did live upto today’s times, right? Surely, somewhere in the entire duration from the 80s to modern times, she managed to have enough wealth in her name to take a strong stand. Let’s not excuse this victim mentality as Jaya wasn’t stuck in a time loop.

I have no sympathies because my mother left an abusive marriage with zilch to her name, a kid in tow. She didn’t do it at once, but she did it eventually.

The same can’t be said for these Bollywood wives with access to far superior resources than a common person. Then, it comes down to lack of courage and convenience, and I have zero sympathies to offer someone like that.

I don't know if I'd judge Jaya as harshly as that.

The 70s and 80s were culturally different times. She would've been ostracized if she left AB.

Not to mention finances. Female actors were not very smart with the money they earned back in the day. Trusting the wrong people, like a secretary or family, even left some destitute.

Jaya had fame, but she might not have had enough money to raise 2 kids on her own in the manner they were used to.

Yes, she also seems psychologically dependent on AB, but that is often not the only factor which went into consideration back in the day.

Amitabh would ask Rekha, Parveen to not work with Rajesh Khanna and did try machinations to get directors to cast him over others. He was also known to get makers to portray stories in such a way that he looked as main hero and others looked like supporting actors in multi starrers. He used his Gandhis connections to ensure DD showed his films on T.V. and documentary on him, over any other star.

That said, it is Vinod and Parveen who alleged he destroyed careers of theirs and Rishi also said he did not give credit to his co stars and Kader Khan also said Amitabh uses and dumps people like hot potato.

Rajesh Khanna did not directly blame AB but Parveen did say AB destroyed career of Rajesh Khanna.

Though I personally believe Rajesh Khanna was an overrated, dheela, one trick pony actor with no personality and he owes his popularity to songs and explicit scenes with one night stands with heroines and showing relations out of wedlock which must have excited hormonal audience of that era. His films are regressive and his dialogue delivery is slow and stretched. He was bound to fizzle out one day. He also let go of his own looks and health and had attitude issues, unprofessional ways due to which other actors began to get preference over him.

Rajesh was bound to have a downfall someday or other given his lack of versatility and taking his fame for granted.

Though most Khanna fans and haters of AB, Salim-Javed keep blaming them for destroying this one trick pony's career.

I just quoted what Parveen said and it is open secret AB ensured Rekha and Parveen refused films opposite Rajesh Khanna.

Jaya herself belonged to a famous, rich, well connected Bengali family and her dad wad reportedly a media mogul. She was not on roads who would not survive if not for AB.

That said, she does have stockholm syndrome for AB and her in laws. It is said she was ready to leave AB but her in laws stopped her.

I have NO sympathy for her or Rekha. No matter how one spins their life circumstances.

And I like Dimple for guts to get outta Rajesh's abusive house and do films, start own business.

I often feel that the mind is simultaneously the weakest and the strongest chain in the world.

Jaya felt she couldn’t do what many women in such marriages have done over the years - leave a cheating husband, refuse to tolerate disrespect and hold their men to higher standards. Her mindset against leaving a husband kept her chained and so, she continues to chain the rest of the women in her family.

Her reasons for not leaving are flimsy at best, because she had the best financial resources and the society changed over the long years since the 80s. Those who have courage don’t even wait to have these two things going in their favour. Theirs minds recognise that they deserve better.

Clearly, Jaya found it convenient to continue living with AB and both have propagated a regressive, patriarchal culture in their home. For this, she deserves no sympathy because she is the creator of her misery.
