I have a little bit more time now and I do like these serious topics, so here are my thoughts:
1) I was a little disappointed that Alia talks about K3G (literally) and the background music is KHNH 😆. LMAO I'm just saying ...
2) On a more serious note - depression and other mental health issues should be talked about more to spread awareness because mental health issues have a negative stigma attached to it from the previous decades, not to mention kids can be assholes too so it's good that they can kind of understand it when celebs and influencers talk about it. It does come with an asterisk and I'll get to that at the end.
Equally, I think it's important for us to gain an understanding of mental illnesses and how to help those who have them. People going through depression may very well be afraid to turn to people, to talk about what they are going through with people less they be judged, or are just always lost in their own sense. You have to see them in a different light because they're going through so much that their brain, their emotions, their feelings are processing things differently - you and that person view the world very very differently. And thus, you can't hold onto how they acted before the mental issues arose and use that as a basis to judge them for their current actions.
I'd also like for people to know more about *what to do* or *how to behave* when a loved one (friend or family) is going through depression because regardless of whether you have experienced it through yourself or a friend, we all are human being capable of emotions and empathy.
So take the time to learn about it - even if it doesn't affect you. Depression is often times unseen and we might be wearing the glasses of judgement to not see it creep up on a loved one. You do need a lot of patience and a lot of understanding though because remember, a depressed person won't open up to you immediately. Stick with them, tell them (and show them) that you'll always be there for them, listen to them properly, give positive reinforcements and let them know how much they mean to you because they judge themselves harshly, and gently guide them to getting professional help because you aren't a professional.
To everyone here: I know life is tough and you might be going through the shits - whether it's happening to you or someone close to you. I'm still questioning whether my feels from a few years ago was depression or not, but I had people help me get through whatever that period was. So I just want to let anyone reading this know - if you ever need to talk about your life, feel free to reach out to me! I can't promise I'll make life better, but I can offer some time and a whole lot of empathy. Obviously, reach out to friends and family in real life (if they can understand because they can do so much more being in close contact with you) before turning to a complete internet stranger, but if you got no one or they aren't willing to help - you got me 🤗
Asterisk time: I mentioned that I would put an asterisk when celebs and influencers talk about mental health issues and I wanted to elaborate on that. Remember, celebs and influencers are just that - people in a position to reach a greater audience. It doesn't automatically make them doctors or medical professionals. I think celebs' and influencers' greatest strength is the ability *raise* awareness and help people associate and connect with them on a different level. There very well may be an Alia Bhatt fan who sees this video, realizes he/she is going through depression, and tries to learn more/gets help - and that's worth it, whether you like or dislike Alia or Deepika.
But I give them the benefit of the doubt when it comes to these topics because these issues need to be discussed, addressed, and widespread. If there is evidence that they are doing this for clout, they are talking out of their ass or maybe don't even believe it (or judge harshly, etc.) - then yes, they can go eff themselves. But until then ... I think it's good Alia said what she said (though to be honest, she could have phrased it differently because it felt like she was trying too hard - but that's just how I saw it)
