No. They are definitely inflated.

I've been checking for seats and except one or two all the shows are in green, including 3d shows. Even the seats shown occupied during booking are empty when people are going to watch the movie. Atleast that's what I've been told by actual movigoers who I've talked to.

Plus the WOM is horrible to say the least.

I don't know about other cinemas, the one I was in yesterday was house full. The movie was ok, I've seen better, I've also seen far worse. It's a darned good first attempt at something new.

The atmosphere in the theatre was electric, it felt good to be a part of the collective experience.

I don't like bigots, rabble rousers and I hate trolls, so although not a fan of any of the actors, I will watch it again, only to annoy said specimens.

Brahmastra opened well. It had great music , an okay trailer. Big B, Ranbir and Alia names and KJO banner. Great VFX , mythology and family type movie.

The massive marketing campaign, promoting in the south, visiting temples etc definitely contributed to a big opening.

Post that the numbers are definitely inflated. WOM is mostly negative to mixed. The budget is too high to recover.

The bigwigs, producers want it to do well because they want people back in cinemas. It has nothing to do with nepotism or anything. It is all agenda driven

Critics are paid. South producers and actors collaborate with KJO for mutual benefit. Bigwigs want people to come back to cinemas.

But all of them are missing a crucial point the social media boycott is not a problem neither is nepotism.

Audience has changed post COVID. It is not names or language anymore that attract audience. If the trailer and music do well and connect with audience. It will open with good numbers. Post day 1 it is only the film and it's wom that will show its continuity.

All the films that have done well in theatres have had one thing in common which was entertainment, any film that was dragged or went boring for a few minutes did not do well.

Kashmir files also had huge corporate booking that boosted it's collections so why only single out this movie ??

It’s a Karan johar production especially his favorites are part of. You saw how he promoted this years dharma movies. Highlighting extremely the numbers. We talk about the man who tell how he shamelessly buys the ratings and all other stuff. All those flashing numbers and all that. So how can anyone take the numbers of his production serious

I do believe the numbers they are reporting are fairly accurate. I’m sure there’s some inflating of numbers and even corporate bookings, but not enough to suggest that actual numbers are significantly lower. What I do think is happening, and happening VERY BLATANTLY, is how the trade analysts are interpreting these numbers. What Brahmstra has earned so far is NOT enough to make it a hit or to even help it break even. It’s not even close to being on the way to becoming a hit or breaking even.
