How do you all usually celebrate? Like I know about Nilavilakku, Pookkalam and Kathakali performances, but what else do you do?😊

I've never been to Kerala, and the Malyali friends I have dont celebrate it in the full capacity, so have always been curious 😳

Onam is actually like Kerala festival... all religions celebrate it...

mostly family gettogether...

we will have onam lunch feast called OnaSadya...

lots of curries, rice, payasam (kheer)....

then in ancestral homes, they will tie swingss.... (nowdays less...my childhood... maternal house... we had swings )....

then in Hindu families... they put Athapookalam (floralrangoli / floral carpet)...

and old days ... Thiruvathira dance, many games etc... will be played....

now days ancestral home itself getting nuclear :P

so mainly residential association / apartments associations/ offices /schools celebrate one or 2 days Onam...

in office they keep Onasadya and some games like

lemon n spoon, pot hitting, marking bindi in board - sundarikku pottu thodal, tug off war, sack race,,, like tat
