Going tonight, positive after reading member reviews here..I dont care about the stars or VFX or whatever..just here for Bollywood and to support it and as long as I get an entertaining movie to watch (I loved Laal Singh Chaddha as well, even though majority folks hated it or did not watch it??)

I remember seeing an epi with eijaz khan of sssghh koi hai on star It was called Nishan I think. In that he possesses great dark power but ultimately it was love that made him choose the right path. When I was hearing the dialogues of how love is the key to the power I was like I wish some thing like what eijaz did was shown cos Ranbir and alia’s dialogue was just laugh worthy. Whenever they were showing their scenes my friend was why r they turning it into comedy.
some of the dialogues that were shown in the promos r cringe when seen in theatres also. the astraverse was interesting and cud have been used better. Also cut down some unnecessary scenes and songs. Overall okay movie.

Also vfx was not bad like I expected, the worst thing about the movie is below par dialogues and cringe worthy romance. Second half is amazing though. Really hope they make the next part, I’m intrigued by the dev story

Think for sequel this will need at least 300-320crrs at BO. Something like 250crr from India and 50-70crr from overseas. Even then it would be doubtful. But this should be the minimum.

Given the mixed feedback/reviews not sure if movie can do this business.

Doubt ranbir would waste his precious atleast more 3-4 years on its sequel, he already lost in delayed jagga jassoos,shamshera and brahamastra

It’s basically a mix of Harry Potter (the chosen one, order of phoenix vs Brahmanash, Voldemort killing Harry’s mom and Harry surviving it wala arc, Harry being the horcrux and bir being agniastra and getting visions of ppl with the astras) and avengers infinity war (villain gathering parts of a precious gadgety thing that can destroy the planet)

I don’t mind the unoriginality, really don’t …. had they not pretended like it’s some great ode to hindu mythology and ancient Indian history

The use of astras is very surface level and basic …there is no backstory to them …it’s just symbols used in Indian mythology (naag, nandi, vanar etc)…I thought they will somehow tie them back to the mythology’s stories (like brahmastra was used in the mahabharata/ramayana, vanar astra in ramayana etc but nothing)

Ranbir and his naujawan act is so tedious …it made me wonder, ….srk/nagarjuna/ab snr were all under utilised buttt they had inherently good screen presence …Biru has literally no charisma in this …no charm …ppl hooted when srk, ab and nagarjuna came in….no one gave a crap abt biru in my theatre…😒

But the worst the worst part of the movie is hands down the love story…

Coming to aliaas role, I mean If there was a Definition of a door knob heroine role that just exists to “inspire” the hero and get saved by him several times, this is it …

There is no reason he falls head over heels for her…none at all…atleast she likes his positive attitude or some shit …what’s she bringing to the table man for u to go Gaga?

Also she makes his life like 10x harder by just existing and getting in the way of his mission by clinging to him nonstop …why do they have to keep hugging in a bloody battle to save the universe …🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️..let them fight and stop ur romance nonsense girl …

And what’s with that threatening she does with mouni at the end “imma throw this brahmastra off the cliff if u don’t back off” 😂😂😂 …if mouni is out to destroy the planet she can’t retrieve a piece chucked off a cliff with her “powers”…🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

The dialogues in this are the crappiest ones I’ve heard in the last 2 decades …

The things I did like was the dev amrita angle…gimme more of that and less of these ranbir alia crap …

Vfx was also mostly good …to their credit they were seamlessly put in so I’ll give them that …and yes there’s a lot of power rangers type visuals in their with the laser light shows …they could have been more innovative there

And yea the ending where “love is the strongest astra”…ok Disney princess…we get it u love each other ….. 👸

your review also seems like all problems identified through trailer are there, basically ayan tried hard but inexperience and the lack of depth showed, the gravitas required for this theme is not there, basically love story woth some cosmetic mythology and miscasting

i think importance of vfx is exaggerated, if story and emotions are strong and performances do justice to it, ppl ignore tacky vfx, like baahubali some of the scenes had tacky vfx, but one is too invested by then in characters and story

A movie based on Hindu mythology would obviously revolve mostly around Hinduism . That’s like complaining why Thor and Hercules don’t show Christians.
