Gurdwaras stopping interfaith weddings happens mostly abroad, not much in India and wedding ritual is not same as stopping anyone from entering gurdwara altogether.

Several years ago Harbhajan was rapped by SGPC for serving tobacco products and having hookah at his wedding which is apparently against Sikh ethos as tobacco is forbidden in the faith. But he was never stopped from entering gurdwaras just because he has tobacco at his reception or trims his beard and celebrates Karva Chauth with his wife.

He does get trolled online for his hair and Karva Chauth or wishing on X Mas but no temple banned his entry.

The issue here was not letting enter at all. Not fatwa, hukamnama or trolling.

I did not justify beheadings or death threats. Religious fanatics make me sick no matter which faith they are. Reminds me of time militants used to attack singers and killed Chamkila a famous singer, in Punjab in 80s. Radicalism should never be allowed to take root lest it reaches dangerous proportions. You never know when it gets to next level from just protests to actual attacks...

Khans kabhi masjid mein jaye toh na😆I don’t actually think any of them are practicing as such tbh. And if they are, good for them.

On the topic of Harbhajan, if memory serves me correctly, he got slammed left, right and centre in Punjab for doing that ad where his hair was let down. It wasn’t just a bit of trolling as you suggested. Sikh bodies condemned it and his effigies were burnt too.

I remember reading years ago some minor celebrity being denied entry into a Gurdwara cz he dyed his hair

BTW it was the Temple's decision (and they have every right to) nobody was protesting outside

Anyway people are supposed to have the right to protest, right?

I personally hate it when I see people ambushing and protesting somebody in places of worship or when they're eating, dining in public etc.

If it's up to me that would be illegal

But no protests against him for visiting gurdwaras.

He still gets trolled for posting Karva Chauth pics or clean shave pics and X mas festivities on Twitter but no one protests against him for visiting gurdwaras

Say this on twitter. This forum hardly has 50 active members, most of whom are not trolls who abuse on SM. 😆

Woh thodi na Instagram pe announce karta hai ki dekho sabhi log, main pooja paath karne ja raha hoon. At the peak of his boycott when effigies were being burnt, you reckon no-one would’ve objected if he publicly announced he was going to visit a certain Gurudwara?
I love when Mo Salah posts his family in Christmas PJs under the Xmas tree, always riles people every year without fail.😆

Is it so? I do not remember gurdwara denying entry to a celeb for dyeing hair. They do get touchy about things like not covering head or carrying tobacco or cigarettes.

Anyway temple banning person is different. Indira Gandhi and Zail Singh were also stopped from entering Guruvayoor temple and Puri Jaggannath. That is decision of temple management.

But mobs gathering against someone for decade old comment and those people leaving due to fear of mobs is sad. It will embolden fanatics of other communities given how big this incident is and Ranbir and Alia are no small time celebs.

I fear mobs gatekeeping other places of worship in future.

Already we have headache of mobs attacking gurdwaras for interfaith weddings in UK since last 5 years.

I also love it when Taapsee wears her views on sleeve and Bhajji posts pics of Karva Chauth and X Mas online without bothering about trolls.

Do you think there would be no protests if Alia or Ayan had not announced they would be visiting the temple? I do agree celebs should stop putting all updates in advance online.

Not related to BW but when Rajiv Gandhi was PM and visited Katmandu, Sonia Gandhi was denied entry into Pashupatinath temple.

It led to a diplomatic fallout. India issued an economic blockade against Nepal which, of course, the PMO denied having any connection with the incident involving Sonia.

Again Sonia Gandhi when she took over as party president in 1998 went to Tirupati temple for blessings. She was made to sign the visitors’ book which wanted to know if she was a Hindu. She had then replied by saying “I follow the principles of my family”.

She couldn't openly say what her religion is...

What wouldn't they do for power and money

This so called Bajrang Dal must be on speed dial of Bollywood PR teams. Create a controversy to create sympathy.

Mission Accomplished!
