I think she looks down upon the dhabewali and cannot digest the fact that a lower middle class girl will become the future maharani of Singh mansion.
But they didn't know anything about Sam's background and they accepted her without any hesitation. Heck, even someone as superficial as Amber didn't bother finding out about her background, or her family. Even when the Singhs planned Aditya-Sam's wedding, the thought of inviting Sam's family didn't even cross their mind.
All this points towards bad writing from the writer's part, TBH.
P.S. Speaking of Sam's family, how come nobody's mentioned her parents so far? Like, where were they all this time when Sam was in Canada? Couldn't Ginni or Gulraj have just asked Sam's parents to intervene to stop Sam-Aditya's wedding? Or is Sam an orphan? Sam does mention her grandparents I think when she requests Daarji to host the wedding according to Hindu traditions as that's what her maternal side of the family followed I guess. So at some point, she did have a family before Grewals.
