Misogyny in BW and everywhere

Lately I have been so disturbed over the misogyny and incel movement ever since Roe vs wade was overturned. Now women are forced to carry rape, incest, dead fetus, etc pregnancies and forced into it.

Then I see Andrew Tate and his disgusting incel movement. The posts and comments are really triggering. Now I find out India allowed child marriage for Muslim girls. Why is India not caring about Muslim girls and women and making the secular laws for all? Why giving up to the sharia law which abuses women and allows child marriage to polygamy/spouse cheating? Do Muslim women not deserve equal rights? Even if some Muslim women are brainwashed, it doesn’t mean others want that or they should be forced to follow sharia law which neglects their rights. I just don’t understand why India even allows these extremist madrasas to function which gets funding from foreign countries and then many start to attack its own country. I am tired of the the misogyny and evil practices in BW and throughout the world against women. I can’t watch most of old BW movies because how sexist many are. Most actresses weren’t able to get married as most didn’t want actresses in their families. It makes sense why many had to go after married man to marry. The casting couch, sexual assault and many things actresses had to endure and some still endure. It’s a sad world.

I empathize completely with your distress. These are dark times. Roe v. Wade being overturned was a long time coming and it upsets me the Democrats didn't push to make into law knowing the Republican agenda. I know someone who is now being forced to carry a child that will not survive birth. It's miserable. As for incel culture, it sickens me, people like Andrew Tate sicken me and it's appalling to see the hero worship he gets from some young men. I haven't lived in India for a very long time so I don't know too much about what's going on with Sharia law. And being an actress or a model anywhere just opens up a woman to being fat-shamed, sl*t-shamed, exploited and it can get too much at times, even for those of us who indulge in showbiz gossip for time-pass. The rampant misogyny in every area of society weighs on me often too, and although I don't think the BW forum is the place for discussing such serious topics without asking to be trolled, I just wanted to let you know you're not alone in feeling disturbed over what's going on.

It's really misogynist that women r forced to carry the child when they don't want to. It's such a trauma n what will happen to child when mother or father doesn't want it.

It's really stupid of courts in india to give decisions on Sharia law n why doesn't govt changes these rules when all time they keep how muslims r marrying many girls n having so many child.

Now a woman's age for marriage is going to be raised to 21 n it should be applied to all irrespective of religion or caste.

Thank you. Glad I am not alone. I have been feeling so let down with these issues recently. Don’t know how long this will continue until changes happen. What saddens me more is the fact that many women actually uphold misogyny too and enable it.

I agree with most things said above, so I'll focus the bulk of my post on the Indian court case OP is referring to because that caught my eye too.

If it's your fancy, here is the court opinion:

https://www.livelaw.in/pdf_upload/jsm17082022crlw7632022202318-431749.pdf

But this case isn't as black and white and I'm leaning towards the court having made the correct decision here.

Even if we put the legalities aside:

On Side A you have the minor girl living in an abusive house with allegations of her parents beating her and forcibly marrying her to another man and on Side B, you have her living a happy, peaceful married life with the man she loves despite being a minor and despite being pregnant.

I think the court chose the path of less evil because it was the most beneficial and protective way to keep the parents separated from the girl, for the girl and her unborn baby's future. A minor marrying an adult is disgusting, yes, especially when said minor is now pregnant but I think given the circumstances, it was better than her former circumstances (beating + forced marriage).

EDIT: I dug back to the Punjab/Haryana case - and that one irks me. It sounded more like a dumb decision by young children being supported by the courts because of Sharia law.

Exactly. I don’t know why different rules for different people. How can 15 year old child be allowed to marry according to some religion as if she can have the maturity to know if an old man is right for her? People that young are easily groomed and abused.

I didn’t know she was beaten by her parents. I am okay with her being away from them. But this does allow other cases where young girls will be groomed by not good intentioned men and the girls will say they consent to marriage. I think marriage age should be 21 and if not then minimum 18.

That's what I don't like either. The Punjab/Haryana court opinion sounded dumb, and using that as precedent for this case was dumb too.

But I agree, marriage should be 21 (or 18 with judicial / maybe parental consent) irrespective of religion. I know a bill was introduced in Parliament to ensure that, so let's see what happens with that.

I don’t know about Panjab/Haryana case. What was that about?

Even though BW has been mostly bad now I like the fact that now many actresses aren’t looked down up and are able to get married to whom they love. They don’t have to get married or go after married men and all what used to mostly be the few choices back then in BW. Finally actresses are able to happily settle down. Also actresses are able to work past 30 to 35 to 40 years age now. So big improvement in regards to that.
