He sounds more and more like he is turning into the trio from that scene of Kal Ho Na Ho, encouraging Naina to get married just so they could sing at her wedding. And they do get their chance to do so at her sangeet with Rohit 😆

The most recent KWK episode makes it clear how he was dying to attend these celeb weddings. He has such severe FOMO😆😆

As a gay man I find it quite unfortunate to read all these funny bitchy comments about Karan's apparent "obsession" with weddings... because I know what it's like to grow up in a society/culture/world where you know you are NOT getting married, because you are NOT allowed to get married, you grow up attending other weddings, with this fact (and sometimes secret) in the back of your mind.... that your relationship with your most-loved one (if you find someone) won't be recognised, won't be celebrated, is not "normal" and will be shunned...

I’m not gonna pretend I know what this feels like because I don’t. I’m also going to be more sympathetic to KJo now with regards to his desire to be invited to weddings after reading your perspective. Having said that, the man tends to really go overboard and become pushy on his show. When Karan Johar is judged he’s judged for the entirety of his personality. We just take turns picking a topic and then running with it. If he wasn’t pushy with Sid, and evidently Kiara, on their impending nuptials I think most people would have laughed off his self admitted sense of FOMO with weddings. But he was pushy so here we are I guess 🤷🏽‍♀️

He himself admitted that he has fomo w.r.t weddings. I found that somewhat cute and also it made me feel a little sad for him.

I didn’t watch this season of kwk episode but I might watch to see him whine about not getting invited. I don’t even like attending weddings and parties and be mad when someone doesn’t invite me

Having said that, please don't spare him from ridicule, because he is majorly annoying, sob story aside, especially on that show (which I haven't even bothered to watch.. yet)

He IS frivolous, He IS so over-the-top, He IS tacky as hell with his guests... which is such a minusss 🤪

I haven't seen a clip of this moment so I can only imagine how it was..

Why is Karan such a Himbo???

..escapism, which is intensified in Indian cinema, has been a coping mechanism and life-saving medium for many of us.. when you're young and unsure, your future looks so bleak that you end up escaping to the nearest thing that takes your mind off things...

...and as a grown up, a lot of that ca stay with you, and manifest in varied ways.

The extra focus on frivolity and larger-than-life, CAMPY dramatics, "FUN" stuff... is associated with gay men - do we care to wonder why? It can be a cover-up for deep internal sadness, rejection, feeling inadequate as a member of society, a disappointment to your parents expectations... things of that nature

It's also often noted that comedians are the saddest of people...

Having said that, KJO definitely puts himself in the firing line all too often, so he must also crave the attention too. Hey-ho. 😉
