Also "South movies" also include Malayalam and Tamil movies. Pls don't call malayalam and Tamil movies crassy or massy. Most of Malayalam and Tamil movies have always been class apart. Half of famous and hit movies in Bollywood have been the remakes of these amazing South movies.

I wonder too..such a crappy, cringy film full of misogyny.

Some people say south audience is educated, intellectual and the literacy rate is high there. So movies like Jai Bheem succeed there inspite of opposition. Truth is Jai Bheem was a well made movie.

This same South industry makes movies like Arjun Reddy and Pushpa that r misogynistic..and many others that show caste superiority..and the audience laps it up if it's entertaining and makes it ATBB. Education doesn't play a role here.

Truth is that majority people look for films that don't bore them..they r least concerned about the msg passed through it.

I wonder how it became hit even in telugu too! Being a Telugu I hated the look and everything about it.

@bold

That's true. Majority don't care about message and not every movie is about message. People watch for entertainment and for the acting .

Not only South audience even North audience liked Kabirsingh which is a remake of Arjun reddy so it is nothing to do with South or North. I think Arjun reddy even though it is problematic it is still engaging and it became hit because of VD otherwise script was uttercrap. Pushpa I think people watched because of AA's popularity not because film is good I guess.

In Telugu few good movies get flopped and few crappy movies get hit at box office it's all about luck and the timing the movie get released. If there is a solo release they watch it in weekend if they don't have any other movie in theatre.

You're calling RRR crass.😆 Doubt you've watched it.

Rajamouli's movies are incredibly well-made. They're far from being crass. Actually, name a less crass, less sexist Bollywood movie made for the masses than RRR. Doubt you can.

BTW, it's a worldwide hit now. And not just among Indian audiences.

Tells you something, doesn't it?

Pushpa might be mass, and I haven't watched Karthikeya.

Point is they have actual content and are not star vehicles. Which is why they're succeeding.

Money isn't everything? Movies are made for audiences. Money created is one major way to evaluate audience response. They vote with their wallets.

BTW, South movies which succeeded at least paid attention to content which would appeal rather than just try tricks to get money. That's all Bollywood does. Chase after money. A star or two, foreign locations, VFX, remix music. Script? What is that?😆

Bollywood doesn't have good content. Blame boycotts as much as you want. Bollywood ain't coming back until it admits there is a problem with itself. It's like alcoholism. First step is admitting there's a problem with YOU (generic you).

Eta. Parts of Bollywood seem to be seething with envy at the moment. 😆

Eta 2. If Vikram Vedha succeeds, it will because of a South script and a South director.

Well pushpa was not a major hit in Telugu..it worked in Hindi so from where did the question of literacy or role of education of South Indians come from?!

It isn't a major hit in Telugu. Producers compensated distributors of Telugu version why would they if it were a superhit?
