This is Filmfare awards. They don’t always go by who had the best performance. A movie’s popularity makes a difference as well and Shershah became very popular. It may not be fair but that’s how they’ve always done it. And Shershah wasn’t just a massively popular movie. It was a very well made film that audiences and critics alike loved. Not to mention all the praise it received from the military. Also due to Veshnu Vardhan a lot of South celebrities praised it as well. Still, it is highly highly unlikely that Vicky will walk out empty handed. And it is also highly unlikely that Sid will walk out empty handed.

Sardar Udham was the more acclaimed movie. Shershah everyone agreed was a good movie. Sardar Udham came closer to being an oscar nominee. And made many rankings as one of the best films made. But this isn't about the film. This is about acting. Even if you make the argument that the films are at par which they aren't. Sid's performance cant touch Vicky's. Sid did go empty handed from Iffa I believe. Another major award ceremony. My fear is Dharma has more influence over Filmfare. It is why Alia was able to win for her 15-minute role in Gully Boy.

But you right Filmfare is never known to go to the best peformance. It is why it lost a lot of prestige to other award functions. But this was be a very big unjustice. Giving best film to Shershah would still be swallowable. But not best actor.

OK maybe I wasn’t clear. Shershaah as a movie got a lot more traction and sheer popularity than Sardar Udham. In all Hindi movie awards popularity of a movie is a huge factor in award decisions, including Filmfare.

Anyway, the awards are on the 31st. We’ll see the results soon enough.

Sardar Udham had no songs. The romance was very very short. It had less commercial elements. So the traction part might be true. But I dont think Sardar Udham had a theatrical release. So it is hard to measure on that regard. But it was the most acclaimed movie of last year.

But let's see. But the fact that people want Sid to win because they know this is the only time he will come close. Meanwhile, someone like Vicky is talented enough to be this close for many years to come, itself is a statement in terms of who deserves the awards on merit.

Before Shershah I doubt anyone on IF thought Sid would ever be nominated for a Filmfare let alone be one of the likely winners. There’s no telling what the future holds. If Shershah happened why can’t other movies or projects get him the same praise and respect?

I’m not disputing Vicky’s talent at all. I’m not even saying he doesn’t deserve to win. What I am saying is based on how Filmfare works Sid has a great shot for popular award and Vicky has a great shot for critics award. And let’s be fair, of all the people that have won a Filmfare acting award Sid will not be the least deserving here should he win.

The reason why awards like filmfare have lost any credibility is because they try to please everyone with these multiple categories, The critics category itself was created so that they can segregate and award the everyone.

IMO Sid hart was decent but Vicky’s is a national award level performance, he took a role which irfan khan was supposed to do and nobody said why did he do it? That is above most awards

But yes, sidharts will not definetly be the most underserving given filmfared record and he deserves appreciation

Ranveer should win as his name is most recognizable 😆

I don't know what Filmfare's standards are. But they don't have much credibility. Also Sardar Udham released during the second wave of covid. So it didn't have a proper run at the box office. Sid has won worst actor before if you go through his IMDB. And I still think he is overrated.

Umm, I would say Oscar worthy. But Oscar also discriminates against film not made in Hollywood and they got cheated from a Oscar nomination.
