Portraits areDiff magic. Its like their last imprint of soul kind of thing. But many of charms and magic dies when caster dies. As soon as dumbledore died harry was freed from bodybiding curse. The powers of the wand also dies if the master dies undefeated. May be the map could not show RoR because the caster “james” was dead when we got the map.

what did they use to make the map? If it was just a charm then yeah it would probably be blank. But if it was magic like the ones used for portraits then no

oh they must have been able to find books on that. Map itself must have been complex but magic that runs deep like sorting hat or the hogwarts castle would be immense power. It would require intelligence in the object u see but map didnt update itself when passages got caved in or sealed in last book. It didnt know the new passage to hogs head. It means it is limited to casters knowledge and if thats the case it is highly likely that magic was also caster dependent. 😲🤔Originally posted by: simply.meghana
