So I think I can safely say that in South Asian societies display of affection is not something that comes naturally. We might be blessed with families where such displays are considered normal, but in general, people get all stiff, hugs are not that common let alone kisses. But anger comes easily. Repressed as he is, I think the moment when Basit raised his hand was also the moment when he left out the option of having a not so "gehrey rishta".

Nopes..its not abt south Asian societies..its paki societies . Or may be its their shows..in the name of affection they go as far as holding hands and if we're very lucky , a hug..rest is left on the viewers imagination....you may not be watching many of them. Some of them r very regressive compared to india . I am used to it after watching so many shows..

Yes expression of anger is very common and also husband's rights over his wife , the duties of a wife which includes folding his clothes ,making wardrobe , cooking and serving food etc etc . Pehle I was surprised while watching suno chanda ke how is the husband making such demands ? But seems like it's a cultural thing there..a man can have friends but a woman can't..watch the prev fk show , uski biwi ek alag sample thi . Before marriage mard namehram hota hai , uski presence mei sarr dhakna hai and all that . Domestic violence is very common, although they now condemn it in their shows but slapping is very common..girls r doing it boys r doing it fathers mothers everyone .

Specially bec I was watching Gul e rana for time pass before this and watching fk in completely 2 diametrically opposite roles made me go weak in my knees šŸ™ƒ seriously this guy is just ahhhmazing . And then I realized this is probably his first show in which he is not interested In the girl 🤣

Ok..watching habs , I dunno how they weave this magic that one can't miss a single expression , a single dialogue or a scene ..n one can't stop admiring the beauty of it . šŸ˜

Bano and her mom are fire together . Bano is just a fire brand , rubbing her face with the truth everytime . Ek toh madad(I forgot the exact word) lo uspar haq jatao🤣 best dialogue ..Zoya ka siyappa is reaching its climax and I am happy.

Made me realize how much importance does ayesha give to love ..she fought for bano and now fighting for Zoya, so that they get their love..at least her husband will love her , it made my heart bleed . Again therez this scene where she sees a couple enjoying in the car

.again no dialogues but I could totally understand what she is thinking.

Now for the best part..

Ayesha and basits study scene (the best scene today) ..how basit just heard her and kinda saw her point but didn't react.....before this I cud feel this intensity only in ipk , my most favorite show..but there , the fl was in a diff league and they kinda kept it slow burn with slow realizations..but there also the ml and fl bonded over their tragic past where they lost their parents in diff circumstances..how he started depending on her whenever he felt weak .

.I feel basit will also start depending on ayesha whenever he needs a shoulder to cry on....there will be a day when he will breakdown in front of her ..when he will need her to share his problems..bec he sees a friend in her. Somebody with whom he can bare his soul without getting judged .

Ayesha and basit bedroom scene where she says I don't want people to talk (she kinda rubbed it on his face that they don't share a husband wife relationship) ..a very very powerful scene with just 1 dialogue..dekha usko yaad raha yešŸ˜†

Ayesha and basit breakfast table scene ..

Ayesha and basit balcony scene (aur koi jagah nai mili jahan aapka saaman na ho) 🤣 Kya maara dialogue

Basit missing Ayesha on the bf table ..already 🤣

Basit missing Ayesha in the bedroom🤣 Already..and that last scene of part 1 was so telling ..that music being played and ..like I said dialogues hi nai chahiye ..just keep on looking fk and admire him , you won't have any difficulty understanding what he's trying to convey ā¤ļø pehla Nasha must be playing in his head ..rofl. why does he even care? Socho

Really happy to see ayesha smiling ..fahad and ayesha scene was fab , no dialogues but her smile just lit up the screen 🄰

Bang on agree with you on the powerful scenes requiring little to no dialogue... This show is so good at creating moments like that. That scene where ayesha tells him to stay in the same room conveys so many things.... the expectations she has from him, the expectations people have from them, and how he is failing to keep his side of promise in the marriage.... it is all told subtly. Samjhne wale ko ishara kaafi hota hai, but sadly Basit is unable to understand ayesha's emotions right now.

@green: that was my favorite scene too. It gave ayesha a glimpse of the broken man she has married. Proved to her that he too carries love in his cold heart (even if it is buried deep inside right now). And I was very pleasantly surprised that Basit did not give a typical ASR-type reaction. This was one instance where his shouting would have been justified, but he kept his calm and did not get into an argument with ayesha. I think he knew that if he spoke, he would only say cruel things, so wisely kept his mouth shut.

Regarding Basit missing Ayesha, oh how lovely was it!šŸ˜† And I love ayesha's one-liners "yahi ek jagah thi jaha aapki koi bhi cheez nahi hai" I love that she keeps dropping hints that Basit's words have hurt her.

Basit doesn't realise but he is getting used to her presence. His eyes keep moving to her whenever she is in the room.

What I found funny about that last bedroom scene was... If you're so tired, why not just change and go to sleep? He was clearly waiting for his wife...but too proud to admit itšŸ˜›

Haha I have a bad habit of keeping on writing... so yes expect many more long posts! I am just loving this show and the slow progression it is showing in the relationship. Hope we continue to get such beautiful episodes.

hahah!! Look forward to that! šŸ¤—This show has seriously set fire to our imaginations. The nuances of two people growing increasingly more aware of each other and drawing close is such a pleasure bubble to watch. Don't hesitate to pop in with comments in the general thread discussion. We don't bite. šŸ˜†šŸ¤Ŗ

Girllll!!! hehehehe....

hmmm...ok so we have entered some really serious territory here. Actually I was not talking about the depiction on screen but just the social situation. And I have to say being an Indian woman, the situation of domestic violence, patriarchal control over women within the family, access of women to public spaces is still not that great in India either. Compared to Southeast Asia, China, Vietnam etc, South Asian societies (India, Pakistan, Bangladesh) have much more restrictive views on women's behaviour, role in society and family. A lot of it depends on the class as well. Upper class rich families have more liberal views perhaps regards to how women should behave (though there are rich conservative families as well...they are a dime a dozen actually). This we see in Pak dramas as well. For instance rich girls often are shown to have more independence than girls from poorer backgrounds. In real life, i don't know how things are. Cases that get to the news both in India and Pakistan can be pretty gruesome. Only today a friend shared this high court judgment from an Indian court which said if a woman is dressed "provocatively" (whatever that means), her complaint of sexual harassment won't stand in court.

But as for our shows, I think Pakistani dramas have a more realistic approach to depicting abuse of women (not all, there are plenty of awful shows being made there as well). Let me just talk about Habs. The scene of the husband raising his hand..it was not shown lightly. As we discussed here in the thread last night, it scared us. It was a chilling moment. Ayesha leaves after that and is forced to return only because of her mother. I remember this old show called Kankar (one of my all time favs) where the girl leaves her husband who married her for love but would beat her. She then finds happiness in her second marriage where she finds respect as well as love. Indian tv dramas are less good at showing how a victim of abuse is to deal with the situation. In movies like Thappad, the message is clear. But often you have stories where the man is shown to ultimately reform and it ends happily.

This is particularly a sensitive issue for me because I have seen cases of domestic violence due to my work. And generally you know women make peace with being beaten up on a daily basis. It is one of the most depressing things to witness. There is not much you can do apart from telling them that you are there if they want to escape the marriage. But very few women have that courage to come out of the abusive relationship.

I dunno yaar...the ost video on musaddiq's insta profile gave me the feeling that Sadia will be out of the picture soon. I hope that is not the case. I want Basit to make peace with his mom and move on from the bitterness...but idk.. ost video gave me that vibe...šŸ¤”

And yessssss!!!! I did!!!! And when the strain started, I was squealing inside! That scene was magical. And after that for the first time he spoke to Ayesha's mom politely.

I hope not.. there is too much to be resolved still.. I think / hope perhaps she will need rest and care..

He is always sending her away or mentioning to others that she needs to be elsewhere.

I want her to stay (alive) and give them both the chance to heal their hearts and take away that feeling of loneliness, pain and just all the guilt and awkwardness between them.

I am struggling through some things, but... I will check your messages and leave a little reply back..
so... be prepared for me spamming you all here šŸ˜†
