Was Kiran a good luck charm for Aamir?

Aamir and Kiran first met during Lagaan shooting. Kiran was the assistant director of the film and their affair started from here.

Lagaan was the first movie which made Aamir a brand of quality and experimental films for the audience. He rarely missed his mark with any movie from here on. It was also from here he changed his approach by doing very few films. Lagaan was a big Hit at the box office and also got nominated for Oscar

Just after Lagaan, Aamir released Dil Chahta Hai which was an "Average" at the box office but it won National and Filmfare awards, and also got a cult status by the audience later on. After DCH, he took a break for 4 years and then came with Mangal Pandey in 2005. This movie was a Flop but Aamir and Kiran got married soon after the same year.

Thugs Of Hindostan: Flop

After the release of Thugs Of Hindostan in 2018, Laal Singh Chaddha was the first Aamir film which came out after their divorce in 2021.

12 movies released during their marriage and only two films were loss makers (Dhobi Ghat and Thugs of Hindostan). 5 movies among them were all time highest grossers (Ghajini, 3 Idiots, Dhoom 3, PK and Dangal). 4 movies were ATBBs, 1 Blockbuster, 2 Super-Hits and 1 Hit. This was the best phase of Aamir Khan's career when he was married to Kiran.

Even TOH released at a time when their marriage would've likely hit rock bottom, and we could guess they were probably planning for a divorce. Since Aamir already hinted about his divorce with Kiran in Secret Superstar:

TOH was the only film in this phase when Aamir completely missed his mark. Because Dhobi Ghat, Talaash and Secret Superstar were never supposed to break records, so even if they weren't clean Hits or made Aamir loose money, they didn't effect his career like Thugs did.

I wanna address this. Those smaller films obviously weren’t suppose to break records. But even being small or medium budget they underperformed. None were clean hits. What does it say about the stardom that he can’t get 3 small budget films a hit verdict ??

I think Kiran made him a big elitist. Lost touch w us commonfolk.

It says that he should've controlled the budget even more.😆

Those films weren't capable of doing more business.

Post divorce he is seen with Junaid & Ira again--that's why he says he missed their growing up years because they grew up during the 16 year marriage with Kiran where family time was with her son only. He is seen more often post separation with his sisters too.

Kiran made him a bit elitist--but his stubborn nature and grounded upbringing did not change him completely. Plus as they say, you cannot change a man.
