While I will never warm up to Cheeni, Imlie had made the kid her reason to live precisely because otherwise, she would die. Before the leap, I too was worried that she would be shown to be all about Cheeni and to have successfully forgotten about Aryan. But that hasn't been the case at all.
According to Meethi, she had cried herself to sleep for 5 years. Being responsible for a helpless, child gives her a reason to wake up in the morning. But when it comes to her own self, we see how utterly lifeless she is. By her own admission, she feels alive for the first time in 5 years when she senses Aryan's presence on the other side of a closed door.
And then she has been letting all the disgusting folks of PD walk all over her. That's not the Imlie we used to know. She has no fight left for herself. Back when she left AKT, she was crying 6 times a day but she still had her ambition and her zeal for life. She was no pushover. But without Aryan, she is completely lost now. For 5 years, she had been eking out a meagre living as an independent reporter for a pathetic institution like PD Ujala while being abused day and night by the villagers. One of the villagers today accused her of hiding her face in PD for 5 years. That's exactly what she has been doing. Hiding. Because she can't face the world without Aryan.
The first time we see her singing her patented song was only after she meets him and he challenges her like he used to. We don't see her singing with Cheeni. She didn't teach Cheeni to call her amma. She also never let Cheeni become her 50-50 partner. Even the stuff she teaches Cheeni are all the stuff he had taught her. "Halka sa push!" She tells Cheeni stories about him. And after today's episode, even Aryan knows that. It's just Aryan hasn't been making it easy for her - she still thinks he blames her for Cheeku's death and thinks it's hopeless to try and makeup with him. Also it's not helping that Malini is somehow his partner now (barf) while the gadha keeps talking about exacting revenge on her.
I do hope to see her fight for him though, singlemindedly soon. Maybe we will see that track when she goes back to Rathore mansion and has to save her man for all the witches hanging about that place.
