I don't think Gautam and Meets were at fault here. Gautam never pretended to love Veronica. It wasn't his fault if she fell for him. And they were honest about their feelings before Veronica, they didn't sneak behind her back.

Gautam didn't choose her even when Meera was gone, so it's not like she 'sacrificed' her love or anything.

I think the writer wanted to emphasize on first love and marriage as first love is always special ( i maybe wrong though🤣🤣😬😬😬😬.

This is the exact reason why I only watched HDDCS once and never again. I would’ve been slightly satisfied if the father was killed. He doesn’t deserve to Albela sajaan aayo vi sa re ga ma pa while single-handedly ruining his daughters life . 😒
