Eh Deepika still has the best team in the business. Deepika's problem is her film choices. There isn't a director who wouldn't sign Deepika on the first hint that she wants to work with them right now. Yet she is choosing to play second fiddle to male leads in dumb blockbusters. That's pretty much what I think the Alia piece was implying with the original headline.

Challenged?how and when?

Alia isn't even a superstar amognst females, forget competing with the Khan's who have reigned over BW for a long time. Now that they are facing the slump it doesn't mean that Alia is above their peak. Unless of course they are competing with their present flop time

Alia is at best a mediocre actress with average skills. She has a cute baby face, nothing else. Its a must for a female star to have sex appeal which she lacks. She is a bad dancer, bad emoter. She just does roles which suit her baby girl persona. Even as Gangubai she performed poorly. KJo and publicists can hype as much as they want but common people are not going to buy it. Alia's popularity is reducing which is why their PR is pushing out such articles.

Too much of self praise is detrimental.
