When Kį¹į¹£į¹a narrates why he killed Kaį¹sa (SabhÄparvan 13.29-33), he only says this: Kaį¹sa subdued his cousins, married Asti and PrÄpti, daughters of BÄrhadratha (JarÄsaį¹dha) and younger sisters of Sahadeva, and with that power, won presidency over his relatives, which was a really big injustice on his part; so, the elders chose Kį¹į¹£į¹a and Saį¹karį¹£aį¹a to kill Kaį¹sa and SunÄman, while getting Ugrasena's daughter Sutanu married to AkrÅ«ra. If Kaį¹sa had ever tried to kill Kį¹į¹£į¹a, let alone killed DevakÄ«'s babies, wouldn't Kį¹į¹£į¹a's narration have included that provocation? The genealogy in Harivaį¹Åa (critical edition) doesn't mention DevakÄ« bearing more than one child. My reason for holding KaikayÄ« more responsible than MantharÄ is one that no one has mentioned so far: KaikayÄ« had influence and MantharÄ was just a servant. If MantharÄ had gone directly to RÄma and said, DaÅaratha promised his kingdom as the price (rÄjya-Åulka; AyodhyÄkÄį¹įøa 99.3) to marry KaikayÄ«, so you have to go into forest exile, would RÄma have obeyed MantharÄ? No, the question of royal succession would have been resolved without anyone going into exile. True to character, Bharata would have said no ... KaikayÄ« would have said, Bharata's turn comes after RÄma's centennial ... DaÅaratha and AÅvapati would have agreed that the promise was moot ... Åatrughna would have retaliated against MantharÄ ... And since MantharÄ never even mentions the rÄjya-Åulka to KaikayÄ«, and KaikayÄ« never reminds DaÅaratha of it, we can infer that MantharÄ and KaikayÄ« didn't know about it.
Maybe the rÄjya-Åulka was just a lie that RÄma told to make Bharata feel better. If we imagine that RÄma somehow knew about an agreement between AÅvapati and DaÅaratha from long before he was born, we have to wonder whether the whole time Bharata was in Kekaya, he was hearing about it from witnesses to the agreement who wanted him to rule Kosala.

i totally agree here. There should have been a fight between kaurava and pandava to prove who are best. But by default they wanted to give throne to pandavas. Kaurav bhi kuch kam nahi the direct yuddh karthe but they started doing all planning and plotting.Originally posted by: Rani_Sahiba

Kunti was latter adopted by kuntibhoj. So subdhara nad arjuna are related by blood
