It is a beautiful movie, rajshri style , tagore's story, the days when hindi cinema was based on solid writing

jaya has lots of gems like this

watch satyajit rays teen kanya, the same story is there, role is played by aparna sen (konkona's mom), it is also beautiful and it has soumitra chaterjee who is also wonderful

YES

Saw all films of Jaya Bhaduri of 70s and 80s

Basu chatterji and Hrishikesh mukkherji r gems of directors for slice of life movies in 70s

Saw most of satyajeet ray's films...absolute favorite is Appu's trilogy

will see Teen Kanya, thanks for recomending

Infect Madhuri Dixit's debut film with Rajshri ABODH was also a remake of Uphaar (Balika Badhu having same storyline) but Uphaar took the cake for me for its poetic and wonderful execution and flow.

yes I was trying to remember abodh and balika badhu

such beautiful movies

I love basu chatterji movies too

I was watching pasand apni apni the other day, rati and mithun look so good together, the romance is same story as ghajini

nowadays we dont have such movies where they travel in local trains, they eat masala dosa in a hotel etc

absolutely

the realistic cinema was too good back in 70s, and very entertaining as well, not preachy or unnecessarily dark/abstract/philosophical unlike today's pretentious one

Apne paraye, Zevar, baaton baaton mein, rang birangi , swami, chit chor are some other subtle-gems

If you like these kind of movies and watch dubbed, then watch majili (telugu), dubbed is available, it is a middle class slice of life romance, has samantha and nag chaitanya, i liked the way it was down to earth
