Maybe off track but when Darr came it was as if not more controversial than Arjun reddy, of course media was less that time but basically a stalker character was glorified and shown as a hero, what amplified it was srk was fresh and he was so charismatic that he pretty much overshadowed the hero sunny who so miffed that he never associated with the film or worked with yrf again

basically a star was born, it is the same with arjun reddy, VD came from nowhere and was great, movie is also very well made

point is does the film glorify the character or did the actors take it to another level and audience connected with their charisma

of course the difference in darr is he is killed in the end so gets some "punishment" but throughout the film sympathy for him is built

I don't get appreciation of Darr shayad koi shift ho in SRK's life but merko wo movie achhi nahi lagi aur as you said they try to show his obsession as his love
