I have been rewatching Star Plus "Mahabharat" since the past few months on Hotstar TV. A few episodes left now. I really hate the way makers had messed up certain incidents and written their own Mahabharat.
Like, I hate the entire scene of Duryodhan Vadh by Bhima. Instead of showing Vasudev Krishna helping Bhima to attack Duryodhan on his thigh, it was shown that all the Pandavas including Panchali is helping him - that's a total mockery of the entire scene. Plus, in the original MB, Yudhisthir had asked Duryodhan to come out of the Sarovar and allowed him to choose anyone from them to do the final duel which was an absolute blunder from Yudhisthir's end. They had skipped this part deliberately.

For me, the height of this show was when the Ps played volleyball with Kunti while actively trying to escape Varnavart! 🤣
Also, let's not forget the 3 Idiots scene recreation with Arjun-Rukmini 🤣
I've seen in BR Chopra Sir's version and even there it was Krishna who signed him to attack at his thighs but they kinda messed it up here😵

I haven't watched the new Mahabharat and had watched the old one as a kid, when it was telecast. I've read Amar Chitra Katha. And some stories were told by my grandparents. The thigh incident I do recall. And it's completely wrong to show all the Pandavs and Draupadi.
By original Mahabharat you mean the old one on DD or the epic itself?

The show was still watchable till the war part (mainly due to the performances more than the story), I think they started out as a limited series and hence basically flew through most of the epic, but then I heard they got an extension from Star just before Bhagavat Geeta, and in order to make that limit, they just dragged their feet through the rest of it. 🤪
They inserted so many random sequences like the weird Krishna Leela, that it was hardly watchable after that.
Honestly, I don't understand why makers insist on making up their own tracks when the actual stories are so much more cinematic! 🤔
Yes, specifically the way Arjuna threw Kunti from one side of the fire and Bhima catching her from the other side. To be honest, the way Tewary uncle showed the Lakshagraha incident, it disappointed me a lot. And the way the Pandavas got out of it by hitting the ground with just one blow was way too much for me.Originally posted by: metacrisis

^^Yes it was a very well-planned conspiracy and it took a lot of delicate manipulations on the Pandavas' part, over a relatively long time, to escape it. The StarB team hardly touched on most parts of the epic due to their time shortage.
DD and the epic ones are both the same - B.R. Chopra's. Even I read the same in our Bengali Mahabharat.Originally posted by: NerdyMukta

Yes Krishna Leela just after the Virat war, plus Draupadi knowing the consequences of Kurukshetra war from Krishna (like the death of Abhimanyu & Upapandavas) long before the war started, were just too weird and hard for me to digest.Originally posted by: metacrisis
