So what lies in store today? England were comprehensively routed in the first match at The Oval - by ten wickets in a match total of 44 overs, thanks to Jasprit Bumrah's career-best 6 for 19. But not to be outdone, England's Reece Topley responded with his own record-breaking return of 6 for 24 at Lord's, in an emphatic 100-run series leveller. So, splitting the difference, someone really ought to win by five wickets or 50 runs today…

Groundsman says "pitch is hard and there should be good carry." But they've kept a bit of grass out there due to the extra heat to protect the deck from cracking. But the head groundsman Matt Merchant doesn't expect too much spin.
