Performance Discussion 9 & 10 July, 2022

09-Jul-2022. Taapsee Pannu and Mithali Raj. And several other inspiring women athletes.

Aryananda. Rozana. Somehow she sounded very restrained. Maybe after effects of her illness. But overall the fact that she is a talented singer came through. I don't think it deserved the DHD they gave.

Pranjal. Well, for a chang they didn't make him start with a Bangla song. Saiyaan was his song and I guess it was right in his comfort zone. Slow and philosophical. So no surprise that he did well. But they really need to make him play his duitara!

Rituraj. Mitwa. He hit the ball for a 122 m sixer! As his voice matures I do hope and wish that it becomes as high in quality as his skills!

Sayisha and Chetanya. Dhakad and Patakha Guddi. Considering the age difference between these two and the fact that this song was in Chetanya 's comfort zone, Sayisha did very well. And her low / gruff voice that she brought out was remarkable. Also have to mention that Chetanya did not get overshadowed the way the promos made it appear. They got the Super Star Namaste (SSN).

Mani with Soyab and Danish. Jashn e Ishq. Well, not a fan of that song so I am afraid my comments will be biased. However, I did feel that both were more or less equal in their performance. Neither of them got overshadowed by the other or by Danish.

Aruna with Salman. I felt Aruna's voice suited the song more than Salman's. But it was one of those songs where Aruna is expected to do well anyway, and she did. Bad editing again that they cut out guest comments for her.

Faiz with PD. Ishq di Waadiyaan. A much awaited duet. Finally! That was great. Their styles match a lot and this performance was too good! We need to hear more of these two! For once I can agree with the DHD.

Samaira with Sayli. Main Albeli. Samaira has definitely shown a huge improvement from where she started. This was one of her best performances. Well, make that twice I can agree with the DHD.

For some strange, unknown and UNFAIR reason, only Pratyush, Vishwaja and Rohan did not perform. Or they did not show!

The stories of all the guests! So inspiring!

There was only 1 captain who got to ask a question to Mithali Raj. No marks for guessing it was Sayli 😄

One of those rare episodes when we didn't hear Arunita sing at all! Sorely missed!

One of my favorite episodes so far 👏 Though Tapsee's vibes didn't click with me, absolutely loved Mithali. Such a powerful young lady. The inspiring stories from all other women athletes were too good. As were the performances

Aryananda. Maybe it was the affect of her falling ill. But this was soo not enjoyable It felt like she was whispering Her voice sounded strained. I was wondering whether her mike was off or something. But anyhow, the content team's sudden interest in her is quite apparent 😆 There were a few shots of her in the episode, plus they made her perform first, and gave her a segment with the guest. I'm assured she still has the solid fanbase and is going to finale with the votes 🤪

Looooved Pranjal after a long while. Beautiful rendition of Saiyyaan. It suited his voice very well and he maintained the essence of the song. Though they should make him keep aside the duitara instead of hanging it around for nothing.

Rituraj on Mitwa. Marvelously done Delivered as per expectations. Though he lost his breath one or two times.

Sayisha-Chetanya. Enjoyed it. I loved Sayisha's voice here. Would have loved it as her solo. But Chetanya was pretty good too, sometimes better than Sayisha. This song was made for voices like his, and he sang well.

Mani-Soyeb-Danish. Good one. Though their voices sometimes didn't match, so it sounded a bit messy at places. I thought the kids overshadowed Danish by a huge margin 🤪 And I loved Soyeb more, maybe because I find his voice more enjoyable than Mani's.

Aruna-Salman. Didn't expect this to work so well. I liked it. Both their voices complimented each other better than I hoped.

Faiz-PD. Now this is how duets are done Just the change in Faiz's demeanor and his comfort level with PD is enough to make us realize why his duets with the ladies never worked as hoped. His comfort level showed on stage and in his performance. Also, their voices work so well together. But Faiz is still my favorite voice between the two 😆 Absolutely loved their duet. Perhaps my favorite for the day.

Samaira-Sayli. Loved Samaira in this. She brought the playfulness in her voice required for the song. But I feel like she's being limited to doing the same kind of songs nowadays.

Overall a great episode. No limitation in song selection. A great theme, plus solid performances, backed by enjoyable guests. Javed and Himesh might also consider packing up and leaving cuz I don't see what they are doing on the show lol. Even Alka's absence isn't missed. The judges have no role anyways, the TCT might as well pack them all up and save some money 🤪

Beautiful episode with some inspirational stories.

I liked all the performances. Rituraj & Faiz-Pawandeep were the best for me.

I am definitely going to revisit Faiz-Pawandeep duet.

9th July - Tapsee & Mittali’.

Loved the episode, Less on drama, more on music topped with some uplifting stories of the atheletes. Very inspirational. 👍

Aryananda - this girl has a beautiful voice. Someone should guide her to put more power to it. As usual the lyrics couldn’t be deciphered, the melody came through though.

Pranjal :- One of my fav songs rendered well, without unnecessary pathos & yes, without a Bengali prelude. Well done.

Rituraj :- such a mesmerising rendition of an iconic song. 👌. His voice glides through all those variations with seeming ease. He did appear to have breath-control issues at one point, still one of the bests today. 👍👍. Not to be missed.

Sayisha -Chetanya :- Sayisha was better than Chetanya & Chetanya was better than his previous performances.

Mani -Soyab-Danish :- Soyab stood out for me. Somehow his voice suited the song more than Mani’s. Danish continues to be out of form.

Faiz -pawan :- they rocked 👍👍. A pleasure to hear them together . A wonderful blend of tonal quality & style. Loved it. 👌. One of the best duets.

* Sayli almost heckling Mithali with her Q. Why can’t she wait for Mithali to finish her line before springing up from everywhere 😡. Or maybe it is a case of editor’s love towards Sayli.

* ‘I lip synch, therefore I am’. No points for guessing. To give her the due, Sayli may not be faulted, I suppose. The editor-camera person nexus is wreaking havoc to my nerves making me want to scream ‘ enough’. 😡

Just saying….As if the superfluous duitaara was not distracting enough, the multiple tortoises on the kurta was about to take my breath away… thank God for Saiyyan…attention diverted. 😊

Finally … call it inspiration, magic or whatever, but what is it with PD that whoever he pairs up with hit a sixer - whether Sayisha ( always), mani ( last week) or Faiz today. Granted all are exceptional kids, but their duets with PD are on a next level 👍❤️

Taapsee vs Mithali - it was really good to see the editors focus on Mithali Raj rather than Taapsee. And it was also good to see how well thought out her comments were, most of the time. Probably not technical inputs as that wouldn't be expected anyway, but not just generaly inanities.

Pawandeep - agreed. And I believe I have had the same comment before. He probably spends good time in rehearsals with them, because I have seen also that the contestants always make a decent amount of eye contact with him. And he seems to be always focused on them, giving them cues too.

Arunita - as per the promos we should expect her duet with Aryananda today.

Judges... They need somebody to stream down rivers of tears and sing the Super Star Namaste, and another one to always demonstrate how "I can sing this xyz portion better than you" (until Arunita steps in with her singing and shuts him down 😄)

Mithali was such a refreshing change - no false humility, yet a very grounded person. 👍. Sabhaash Mithu promotion already worked for me - now waiting to watch the movie! 🤗
