Caught up on all the three episodes at once...my review:
Honestly the show was better than I expected. I thought it would be a total redux of YHM but it has some interesting variations.
1. The female lead being already in love with someone made me think that it would be a reprise of Sickand's previous leads, but surprisingly she made herself buck up after seeing the struggles of her family. She was initially in shock but totally laid off on the guy and also revealed his truth in front of his wife which was 👍🏼
2. The touch about the female lead's mom being a cancer survivor also humanized her because in shows the illness of a family member is used as a trope to hide things from them- but here the mother said that she'd already faced something life-changing so she can handle anything-that was a pleasant surprise👏
3. Indu's funny nicknames for her parents: Bobjee and Mouj for her Dad and Mom are also unique- I related to it because I also do the same sometimes😆She shares a good bond with her dad as well, and I loved how she told him that she won't give up on her life because of this setback.
4. Indu's best friend being a man- He seems incredibly supportive of her and I am all for the depiction and normalization of platonic relations between men and women!
5. KVG was totally on fire as usual- in some scenes he actually uplifts the script because he gives a lot of nuances which makes it better. Even Sayli who was such a mediocre performer in her previous show is doing well here. From the promos they didn't seem to be well-matched but as of now things are looking up!
6. I liked how they established the bond between Zoon and Indu- in a way Indu's good Samaritan act led the baby to her as if she were meant to be the mother to that child. I also liked how the dad practically said that it would be a big responsibility which led Indu to almost leave her at the care center, but Rithesh's dialogues about motherhood caused her to introspect about her choice. They are organically building the bond between the three right from the beginning, which is a good foreshadowing.
7. The male lead's family hasn't been introduced as such but I am sure it will have a couple of vamps 😆 And yeah, another interesting variation here is that the male lead is perhaps more rosy eyed about the concept of love than the female lead which is divergent from the norm.
The initial episodes of Sickand's shows are always good but they flounder later...Let's see how they go on🤣
