It's quite obvious that PeeeRan is the love story makers want to focus on.
RishTa is non existent for them. So far there has been no exploration of RishTa and focus once again will be shifting to PreeRan completely.
If makers wanted to create a solid love triangle where Preeta was put in a dilemma of choosing one of the 2 men then they would have explored RishTa, showed their proper marriage rituals, them sleeping in the same room and conversation related to it, few scenes like Kavya asking them to kiss her and then her moving out of the way so that they come face to face and become awkward.
Nothing has happened. Makers are making it quite clear that there nothing between RishTa and Preeta is very much in love with Karan. Kasauti also had Rishabh Bajaj but Prerna's love was always Anurag.
If makers wanted they would have played RishTa angle earlier as well but they didn't. Rishabh was sidelined for 5 years and if Dheeraj hadn't quit, they would have not made these changes and continued with PreeRan.
Also EK never thinks about self respect of female leads. In her shows the heroine picks the hero even if he ditches her, has an affair, marries her sister etc. So, Preeta will also choose Karan.
