2 weeks 🙄.
I guess it also has something to do with culture. Indian culture gives a lot of importance to motherhood. So a new mother will definitely choose to be with her new born baby over her job and this will increase the number of women leaving jobs due to pregnancy. Even most of the career oriented indian women will hesitate to leave their 2 week old baby for work.
I guess some companies even give a day off due to period pain in India.
No hun it’s lack of universal healthcare. In the US your healthcare is attached to your job so they dictate the rules. If you are out of work for longer then you are losing money so the insurance doesn’t cover care. You can have private insurance but it’s very expensive.
In Canada you get almost a year worth of maternity leave and you have universal healthcare here. So in the USA business set the rules and their rules will favour their business not their employees.
How can someone make breast feeding a child illegal 🤬.
Those abortion laws are only gonna give rise to illegal abortion centers. It's 2022 and the oldest democracy is passing this kind of laws
They do it under the guise of indecency. Open breast although no woman breasts feeds like that but still.
Exactly with abortion laws the country has gone backwards and it won’t stop abortions at all but you will have more back alley shody jobs.

Thank you for enlightening me.
So didn't the women protest against this 2 weeks leave? What about women that had a complicated delivery and needs rest?

i absolutely love your point of views. I love how you come with different examples to explain certain things. I wont lie, when i used to silently visit the first thread of ASA, i was super impressed with your posts. One of the reasons i could not stop initiating conversations in the ASA thread. Thank you ♥
thank you! ❤️ I learned over the years that giving context gives people a frame of reference and this helps in the conversation whether it is at home or in drama forums. sometimes I write too much because I am trying to explain my view but yea, it does help. whether people agree or disgree with you is a different matter but at least if you hear each other out, that makes a huge difference in the atmosphere.

Indecency? In a country were celebs walk almost naked on red carpets

They did and matter went to Congress where they didn’t get the votes to send it to senate. Unfortunately if there is a complication then you are out of pocket. One of my close friend had a still birth and on the second day her manager said come to work it’s not as if you now have a kid to take care of 😡😡😡
Ironic isn’t it? That’s why it’s said to disproportionately affect women and nothing to do with indecency.

am not sure how much insurance plays a factor here into maternity leave. most people have private insurance and the government insurance not sure how much it covers. the maternity salary comes from the company itself and they are legally obliged to pay if the employee is permanent. there are companies that cheat by having employees as temp so they don't have to pay such extras. if you work in certain government sectors, then it is 9 months of paid leave with option of 3 months unpaid.

If someone said like that in here, her entire family will come and trash that guy.
Why do i feel american politicians are way more of a male chauvinist pigs than Indian onces. In india they atleast pass pro woman laws to get votes😕
