One of my old posts😅
Maybe there could be a section where the FFEs could post notes if an author makes some mistake while posting/there are reports against the story (so instead of pulling down the whole story(chapter) or removing the offensive parts ourselves, we can point it out in that section and the author can decide what they wish to do with it) This note should be visible only to the FFEs and the author. That way, we don't have to worry about pms.
These look great!🥰
Are these two updated in the system? I have asked minionboss (cm) to assign them to respective users, if they are, she can do so.
This could create controversy, but star rating for stories?
Firstly I would like to thank the technical team and Vijay for granting our long due wish and allowing mature content. I know it wasn't an easy decision for you, but I appreciate that India forums have always stood by what their members want. Thank you FFEs and BRs for all the support needed to convince the admin for this big move.
I am coming to the new fan fiction site. Honestly, I like almost everything the site has to offer. Not because it has been my baby but to see how far IF come to cater for its members. To some extent I agree with many authors here, the interaction is a bit less in the FF section compared to the forums but I also believe it will take a bit of time. It is just 1-11/2 year the new site has been launched and we have quite a decent number of stories in the section in such less time.
A better search option would be helpful.
Although we are allowed to put content tags while uploading a story, ultimately we can't search using an individual tag (belonging to a particular show/character/on-screen couple).
It only suggests stories which have that particular tag as or as a part of their title.

"Mature content" (which means PG-13 according to one moderator) was always allowed. That's why there is a Mature check box. What you are getting now is official permission for the explicit content (R-rated) and obscene content (X-rated) that members were already openly sharing. Authors were telling you about their R-rated and X-rated stories through Book Cover requests, and they got their covers, no questions asked.
Regarding Swetha-Sai's concern that children (imagine an eleven-year-old wanting to know what friends are reading) could just lie about their age to read BDSM etc. on India Forums, and vijay's response that leaving age verification up to the discretion of children (as if they grasp the consequences) is a "reasonable barrier" ...
If someone have a better suggestion please provide as we can always explore those.
My suggestion is that X-rated content and sexual-violence-written-as-romance should be prohibited so that there would be no question of India Forums becoming known as the place where minors easily find filth. Of course, this is the current "family-friendly site" policy that wasn't enforced when moderators and their cronies ran afoul of it. Have you modelled how much traffic you would lose if you got rid of the filth that is currently readable on India Forums?
Not having a report button is a problem, but moderators making up reasons to ignore violations (e.g. Koeli saying to me in a PM dated 21 March 2022, "we are not going to take any action as of now because it is migrated for an award") is the real problem. Until you have one consistent policy, until your moderators are trained to follow that policy, and until your moderators are held accountable for enabling violations of your policy, common-sense buttons will not help you.
If you decide to have a ratings system, I hope you'll clearly define the type of content that requires each age-restriction, and these definitions will be visible to authors while they are selecting a rating for their story. You will also need to decide what moderators should do about incorrect ratings. Hide the story? Punish the author? Quietly fix the rating? Or shrug it off: "If someone wants to cheat the system it is on them and not on us."

I agree, what you did isn't against the IF COC, and I wasn't trying to make the point that Same Story Promotion Across Multiple fanbases is unethical. I was just citing the most extreme example I know of your stated goal to encourage contributions to quantity, not quality, in the Fan Fiction section.
My point was that stories with sexual themes tend to be favourites that get bumped to the top of the forum, and authors of such stories tend to repurpose them to get attention wherever they can. Allowing R-rated and X-rated and BDSM stories in the Fan Fiction section is going to have ripple effects in the forum. These stories will be constantly in front of underage members and anyone who browses for articles/interviews of actors.
I disagree to some extend because there are tons of stories with absolutely zero sexual content on IF that has more than 1k likes on the chapters… unless you have a good content it is very difficult to retain readers no matter how much sex scenes and explicit content you put in it. There was an author named Shraddha who wrote a g rated story yet fetched 1k likes per chapter. Even some of my stories got the same amount of likes. Sexual scenarios might attached readers but they certainly cannot retain readers.
Coming to my story that you have quoted here, honestly no matter how many stories I reproduce unless it is interesting it won’t be read by any. So it is not about the quantity here. It is always the quality of the story that gets readers… it has got nothing to do with ethics as long a I am producing a story that is written totally by me.
The line that you have tagged won’t be applicable here first of all none of my reproduced stories are migrated in the ff section. Whatever stories are there on ff section are original version. Secondly of all there will be a criteria, reproduced stories will be considered as one.
We could also have a dropdown whether user can say if the story is a FF/OS/TS/FS/SS/Original fiction and if they wish to add more chapters, they can change the story type

We should have an option to create a new fanfiction from our own dashboards. Currently, writers have to go to the fanfiction section and find the green button.
The button should be prominently displayed when we check our fanfictions on our dashboard.
Also, the existing button should be more visible in the fanfiction section.
