I feel sorry for those actors because they don't get to act their age. there are two parts to this --
1. it has to do with the stories that writers/directors are writing. not sure about the average age of marriage but if that is still around 21 or so, then most romances and the family dramas would mean the male lead is also around that early age. however, there must be people getting married later as well. what about the stories of working professionals? those in their 30s? in their 40s? if the writers and directors decided to write stories about those age brackets as well, we would be seeing different type of dramas -- not just ones like mera humsafar (which I dropped very early because it was such a boring sobfest)
2. the actors pushback and say they will only act in roles close to their age. however, not all the actors have the courage or the financial power to do so. also the actors themselves need to accept their age and be at ease with themselves. when it happens, you do see changes.
closer to home, a good example would be tamil actor ajith. he hilariously decided at one point that he was going to keep the salt and pepper look and horrified directors. his point was that he was getting older, had no interest in college roles (that he had been famous for in his younger days) and his fanbase was also older. his tactic did work and the type of characters he played started to get a lot older (all in the 30s or more). the two roles in the last few years he was really known for were fathers. the two songs in both those movies are something that people identity particularly with father's day and you will see tons of youtube comment about love for fathers, being a parent, missing their dad etc.
sharing one of the songs -- has 80+ million views and you will know why. it is not just the music but also the lyrics (you can turn on CC to see the translations) -- I like the small scene at 3.20 where he sees himself in the mirror with grey hair and simply smiles -- while the lyrics in the background go "as the seasons change and years go by, I am able to see the lost beauty of life in you."
I also think that most pak dramas have leads of a particular age group but they always want to cast well known actors. Most of the well known actors are in their 30s.
Female leads are mostly around the age of ushna, like under graduates and guys are just pass outs but the entire family will behave like both of them are of the age to get married. I personally feel these characters are way too young to be married and one of the main reasons why female leads are always too dependent on male leads. I was surprised that in dunk, haider's family was ready to get him married before his brother as he was still in college and his brother was working. Even matured actors like Mahira and Saba are given characters of girls in college or in their early 20s. Why cannot the characters be in 30s?
This is one of the reasons why I want pak dramas to widen their horizon and add more genres and stories about people in their 30s.
I only remember watching Ajith movies of the late 90s and early 2000s. I have heard that Ajith has a really good personality but never really followed him. He is married to Shalini who used to be a top child artist in Malayalam movies in the 80s.
Acha ushroz sy ziyada we discuss cheapda and naima here
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
I really appreciate your point of view and I have to agree with you as I did not think from that perspective, thank you for sharing you views.
I think it is also because of the demand and like you said that some may not be able to say no. I think I stopped liking college romance in my late teens. Shahrukh one of all my favourite actor, kajol, and rani in college in KKHH in my opinion was whilst story wise made sense, looks wise apart from rani the age was showing.
That video is very good and good on the actor for embracing his looks. I have no issue with dying hair and all but changing ones look so drastically is unnatural. It’s their job and if they have no problem then whom am I to ask them not to, but from my end I don’t watch such movies.
Here Romeo is an old man, maybe mid 30’s? He looks like he is in his mid 40’s and both Ushna and Shehroz look younger. I felt bit grossed out watching Romeo turn up and college and go love love.
South has welcomed that change beautifully but I don’t get to watch much regional movies, in fact I stay away from Indian movies too but do watch if reviews are good.
I think it was after kkhh that srk said he won't play college going guy again. The only other character that went to college after kkhh was the one from main ho naa and that's totally understandable.
Wasn't kajol quite young when she did kkhh. If i remember correctly she got married to ajay in her 20s.
Salman Saeed is a misfit in every way for this drama😆

Ushroz are making us happy so we don't have anything to say about them except shehroze gaining weight 😆

Interesting fact, both Anmol and Usama are 30 in age(.from any angle both Usama and Anmol dont look like that they are already 30 😆)and Salman Saeed is in his late 30s 😆

I never even noticed him properly to think about him this way 😆. In pak dramas it was always Bilal.
